Alice in Wonderland

by

Who doesn’t love a fun date, with a good movie, and some delicious food?

Well, that is what we are bringing you today! Welcome to our first “Dinner and a Movie”!!  We’ve collaborated with the FABULOUS Six Sisters’ Stuff to put this together. ENJOY!

“ALICE IN WONDERLAND” STYLE

Share the fun with everyone by inviting your date and other friends with this cute announcement.

Set up a “photo booth” for your friends to enjoy as they come in! We’ve included this free printable! All you have to do is cut them out, tape them on a dowel, and smile at the camera. ;) These props and a camera lying next to it is all you need to greet them at the door when your date {and/or guests} come in!  It doubles as darling decor as well!

Then have fun with your guests while playing a game of croquet. I almost beat my husband… almost. ;) We purchased our croquet set from Amazon. My favorite part about this set is it all comes in a bag and is easy to take with you, set up, and take down.

If you don’t have a croquet set or that’s just not your style, you can go for a simple game of cards… play your favorite card game and for fun, give the Queen of Hearts special powers!

Finally, put on an “Alice in Wonderland” movie. I chose the new Tim Burton Version. I really enjoyed his twist on the story. You can download and watch it instantly on Amazon.

Don’t forget to serve some cute light refreshments with these cute “Eat Me” and “Drink Me” tags. I have included the free tags here.

Now onto the FOOD!!  Six Sisters’ Stuff have put together some delicious recipes for Lemon Blossom Cookies & some Strawberry Peach Lemonade Coolers! Take it away, ladies…

When I think of the food that Alice in Wonderland finds, I imagine it as colorful and whimsical, so I decided to stick with that theme! These Lemon Blossom cookies are the perfect bright-colored snack. And with simple ingredients, they are easy to whip up in no time at all!

Lemon Blossom Cookies

Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup fresh or bottled lemon juice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Glaze:

1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
3-5 drops yellow food coloring (optional- I used about 5)

Directions:

In large mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar. Mix well until creamy and combined. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Pour in the lemon juice and mix well until dough forms. Cover and refrigerate for about an hour.

Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness on floured surface. Cut with small circle cutter (I used 1-1/2 inch). Place on ungreased baking sheets and bake at 400 for about 7-8 minutes. Remove to cool.

Combine glaze ingredients and stir with a spoon until lumps disappear. Spoon a little bit into center of each cookie and spread around with the back of a spoon. Make more glaze if needed. Allow to dry for an hour (if you can wait that long) and enjoy!

Makes 4-5 dozen cookies.

Recipe adapted from Southern Plate.

The perfect compliment to these yummy cookies is this fresh fruity drink. It can be made in less than 5 minutes and is the perfect date night beverage! You can use fresh fruit if it’s still available or frozen fruit works just as well so you can enjoy this drink year-round.

Strawberry Peach Lemonade Coolers

Ingredients:
1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 cup peaches, peeled and sliced
3/4 cup lemonade
1 (12 oz) can lemon-lime soda

Directions:
Place fruit and lemonade together in a blender. Puree until smooth. Divide the mixture between 2 glasses.
Pour 6 oz (half a can) of lemon-lime soda into each glass and mix together with fruit puree.
Serve immediately.

Makes 2 glasses.
