I am madly in love with this guy…and as you will see from the following post….it’s pretty easy to stay that way!  🙂  My husband, Jamie, never ceases to amaze me.  He is the perfect gentleman and he always puts my needs above his own.  I had SO much fun on this date he planned for us….but I will let HIM tell you all about it.  Here is my sweet husband, Jamie…

A “First for Both” Date

In my high school and college years, my friends and I went on many creative dates, and experienced a lot of things.  My most memorable experiences were those that I experienced for the first time.

My name is Jamie and I am proud to be married to my favorite Diva, Tara, (no offense Divas).  When trying to think of a fun date we could do – I thought the idea of us both experiencing new things together would be pretty fun. We have been married for over 3 years now and we have experienced a lot but there is always more out there. If you don’t know already we live in Vegas! Yeah, Vegas BABY!!! Ever since we moved here there have been little things here and there that I have wanted to do – restaurants I have wanted to try or places I have wanted to go. The beauty of this date is you can do it anywhere. I know we all have things that we have always wanted to do, but for some reason we haven’t. The best part is this date only cost us $16.00.

We started the date at around 4:00pm because the first thing I wanted to do required daylight.  Hoover Dam is a place we have been to many times.  In order to get back & forth between Arizona & Nevada, you would drive across the Hoover Dam.

The government had been in the process of building a bridge that goes from one side of the Colorado River to the other – every time we went.   The “super highway” which was supposed to alleviate the heavy traffic flow across the Dam.  They finally completed it and it’s now open to the public. In my opinion, it’s almost more impressive than the Dam itself.  To give you a few stats: It is nearly 2,000 feet long with a 1,060 foot concrete arch. It is 900 feet high, stretching across the Black Canyon over the Colorado River. It is awesome!!! Tara said she would never go across the bridge because it was too scary, well, let’s just say, “never say never”.

It had concrete walls on each side of it so we couldn’t really see down the sides but we both knew what was below us and it was a rush driving across it anyway.

Cost… FREE

The next idea was to take her to a restaurant that neither of us had been to before. I picked out a place that was both affordable and delicious. It is called Smash Burger.

It’s a burger place here in Vegas that we had both heard about and had talked about going to but obviously we’d never gotten around to it. If any of you have been to Fuddruckers it is similar. I thought it was better and we both LOVE Fuddruckers. (Be careful not to say that name too many times…).  We ordered burgers, fries and a shake. The atmosphere was great and we had a good time.

Cost… $16.00

The final thing we did to end the night was go to the latest and greatest Casino in the heart of Vegas called the Cosmopolitan.

Talk about AMAZING!!! It was impressive from the first time we entered the parking garage. There were lights above each parking stall that were red if taken and green if available. We thought that was the coolest thing and it made it easy to find a parking spot. We entered the elevators and were greeted by a clerk that was in a classy uniform, and they made you feel like you were a movie star. As we waited in the elevator we noticed the digital display on the wall as it changed from a bookcase to a fish tank. It looked like there were live fish in there. The casino was decorated to the hilt. There were big chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, marble floors, and glass beads hanging everywhere. There was even an old school glass elevator that took guests up and down for all to see. The employees were dressed very classy and fit right in with the theme. We explored the different floors and noticed shops that were carrying $500 jeans and $300 shirts. There were restaurants and places to sit and hang out everywhere.

Our favorite place to go was the 4th floor where they had the sweetest pool I have ever seen. We walked outside to the pool and we were the only people there. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The water was warm and made us wish we had brought our swimsuits (that would have been pretty romantic). We walked to the across the pool area and noticed that the pool overlooked the Las Vegas Strip. It was a pretty cool sight. We found a nice little cabana chair to snuggle up on that was tucked away between the bushes and relaxed for a bit. On our way out we noticed they had Foosball tables, pool tables, and ping pong. Everything was free and we played a game of Foosball until they kicked us out.

 Cost… FREE

Overall, it was an amazing date, and the whole night consisted of things that neither of us had experienced before. The best thing about this date is you can do this anywhere and it can cost as much or as little as you would like. I could even have made this date completely free by cooking a meal together that neither of us have had before.

I am thankful for having such a wonderful wife who I am totally and completely in love with to share new things together. I know there are so many things that we want to experience in life together, so I thought why not make a date out of it?!  It was a lot of fun, and I hope you have as much fun on your “First For Both” Date, as we did.
