  4. When fully combined and smooth, pour into a mason jar or other heat safe container.
  5. When you are ready to use, heat it for 15 seconds at a time, stirring in between.

Simple as that! We’re telling you, these body paint ideas are totally worth the effort! Now for the most fun bedroom game you’ve ever played, scroll to the bottom of this post to check out how to play using your body paints!

Edible Body Paint

Sometimes you just need some color on your palette… or on your partner’s body… to lick off! Hey, we get it! Whip up this edible body paint and put your lovely, yummy colors to use with the body painting game below!

Edible Body Painting

Here’s what you need to grab to make your own edible body paint:

  • 3 Tablespoons beeswax
  • 3 Tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 Tablespoon honey powder
  • 3 Tablespoons cocoa butter
  • ½ teaspoon flavoring
  • Natural food coloring

Directions:

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Reduce the heat down to low.
  3. Add beeswax, coconut oil, and cocoa butter to a mason jar, or other heat safe container.
  4. Put the mason jar with the solid ingredients into the water. Allow the water to heat the outside of the jar without letting any water in.
  5. Stir the ingredients until they are melted.
  6. Remove the mason jar from the water and add the honey powder.
  7. Add flavoring (lemon extract, almond extract, peppermint, etc.)
  8. Add food coloring until you create your desired color. You can also crush up fruit for a natural way to color the paint!

A note here, for the colored body paint ideas, be careful how you color them! Make sure you are using a food coloring or natural coloring that won’t stain the skin! Otherwise, you may be getting some funny looks, or questions in the morning!

Non-Edible Body Paint Recipe

This recipe may not be edible, but it is super simple. Let’s be honest, we don’t always have an hour to experiment with and cook up different body paints. No problem! We’ve included this among our body paint ideas because although you can’t lick it off, it is ultra quick to whip up, and just about everyone already has the ingredients on-hand! Now that’s a winner!

Non-Edible Body Paint Recipes

Here’s what you need:

  • Corn starch
  • Face lotion
  • ¼ teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Natural food coloring or washable paint

Directions:

  1. Mix together equal amounts of corn starch and lotion until it forms a thick mixture.
  2. Add vegetable oil to the thick paint base to keep it smooth.
  3. Add washable paint to the mixture.
  4. You can also divide the paint base prior to step 3 and add different colors to the divided paint base so you can have a variety of body paints!

Again, be careful to use colors that will wash off easily or use natural colorings! Remember once the body paint is on a body it spreads out and can be hard to see if you haven’t used tons of coloring. For a darker, better body paint make it highly pigmented!

Body Paint Bedroom Games

Now that you have your body paints ready it’s time to put them to work! You are in for some fun with these body paint ideas! Print out the game printables below. Cut out each of the cards and stack them up in two different piles. One pile will be the body part cards and the other will be the paint prompt cards. The body part cards have body different body parts listed on them, while the paint prompt cards give you different things that you must paint onto your spouse’s body.

Bedroom Game

Take turns picking one body part card and one paint prompt card. Paint the prompt from the card onto whatever body part of your partner that you drew. For example,  you may be to paint a monster on your partner’s stomach. Go back and forth painting the night away! If your body paint is edible, lick off your painting when you are done!

  1. We tried the edible body paint, but the recipe simply will not work because it mixes oil-based ingredients with water-based ingredients. That’s why the honey powder and food coloring don’t mix in.

    1. Thank you so much for this feedback! We had success with it but love hearing from our readers if something isn’t working.

  2. The honey powder will not dissolve in my edible body. Any suggestions? Also, the food coloring just beads up and won’t mix in.

    1. Hm… You’ll need the water outside the mason jar to be extremely hot for everything to dissolve properly. Keep it in the hot water while trying to dissolve the honey powder, maybe that will help! If your food coloring is also not mixing in well, try adding it while the mason jar is in the hot water, before adding the honey powder! Hope that helps!!

  3. I’m guessing that when using these paints in the bedroom, it’s better to use plastic sheets? doesn’t seem very romantic, but I don’t look forward to the clean-up on regular sheets. What do you suggest?
    THANKS! looks like such fun!

    1. Hello Joanie!
Thanks for your comment! I love the idea of the plastic sheet… what if you used the plastic sheet underneath an old or inexpensive sheet? That way you could enjoy the benefits of both the practicality and the softer feel to encourage the romance? Good luck!! We hope that your fun date goes SO well!! 🙂

  4. Just made this using all vanilla for flavoring and the 2 extra Tablespoons of water. Turned out great and tastes like brownie batter. Also PRINTING TIP-I saved it to my desktop and printed it from there and it printed fine.

    1. Tiffany- Thanks so much for your great suggestions! You are awesome!!!! Glad you liked this. Your suggestions sound yummy. Can’t wait to try it.

  5. If I wasn’t nursing, I’d add some peanut butter in to make like a Reese’s which my husband loves. I’m sure there are similar ideas like this you could mix it up! I did try to print and it wasn’t working, sadly. maybe it’s my printer. 🙁

    1. Anika-

I am so sorry you had troubles with the printables. When I check it – it works for me. Let me know if you still are having troubles.

  6. So I assume the “t” next to the butter and water ingredients stands for “tablespoon”? If so, I might recommend that it be edited to read “T” or “Tbsp”. A lower case t normally represents teaspoon, so this is a little confusing.

  7. this sounds amazing. I tried twice to print and it didn’t work. It was super enlarged and printed about half the tag on the far right of the page.
