2. Tough Mudder- This 10-12 mile obstacle course will challenge you and your partner’s stamina, strength, confidence, and endurance.  It’s not necessarily about winning the race, but rather how you finish it!  A perfect bonding opportunity for the both of you!

4. Tubing- Spending the afternoon on a lake behind a boat is a blast! With tubing all you need is a solid rental or a good friend who is willing to loan you a tube and time with their boat. Once you and your spouse get the hang of tubing, try water skiing or wakeboarding! You’ll definitely feel the burn in your arms and core the next day.

5. Paddleboarding- The perfect activity for a lake, river or even ocean settings, paddleboarding allows you and your spouse to have individual boards or join forces on one. You’ll work your entire body with this one!

6. Partner Kayak- Relatively easy to pick-up, partner kayaking and canoeing are popular river and lake activities.  Rent a kayak for the afternoon and enjoy time with your spouse as you get in a great arms workout.

7. Rock Climbing- Scale nature as you use every muscle in your body to see some amazing sights! Check out your local community center, YMCA, or local rock climbing groups for more information on great climbing sites or how to get started.

8. Skiing- Whether a natural mountain or man-made resort, skiing is a popular winter option, no matter the location.  Even if skiing isn’t your thing, snowboarding, tubing, and hanging out at the lodge are all viable options.

9. Biking- A great activity for both high intensity workouts and low key afternoon rides. Talk to local biking enthusiasts for the best trails, what type of bike would best suit your needs, and the best times to purchase a bike.

10. Running- Even if it’s simply going around the neighborhood, a run with your spouse allows you time to bond and work towards a fitness goal together like a local 5k or a full-on marathon!

11. Theme Parks- A perfect date for adrenaline junkies, exploring a theme park is a perfect way of getting in a full day of walking and thrill-seeking!

13. Walking the Dogs- Your pooch will be thankful for the exercise and it’s a no-fuss way to leave the house for a half hour.  Don’t have a dog of your own? Many shelters are starting programs where you can “check out” a shelter dog for walks and hikes to help promote canine adoption.

15. Visit a Zoo- A throwback to your childhood, visiting the zoo is not only a great way to learn about current animal conservation but also get in a day of walking while learning something new!

16. Be a TouristExplore the sites and sounds of your city by planning a day of seeing local landmarks and museums.  All of that walking is great for some light cardio and it is a great way to spend the day with your spouse.

17. Shop the Farmer’s Market- Help support local businesses by spending the morning at your local Farmer’s Market. Not only will you spend that morning walking but you can also stock up on organic vegetables to make sure you’re also eating healthy, too.

18. Hiking- Great hiking trails can be as extensive as you’re comfortable with.  There are tons of low key hikes around the country that are no more than a half hour and lead to beautiful sites like waterfalls in the Smoky Mountains. If you’re more daring, try an overnight hiking trip! Local nature conservatories and hiking enthusiast groups will often have great information. 

19. Sledding- This is a great activity for the park next door or the giant hill out in town! Pro-tip: invest in a good sled and a couple pairs of gloves.

20. Geocaching- Dive into a real-life treasure hunt led by GPS! You and your spouse will work as a team to navigate coordinates all around the world!

35. Trampoline Fitness- The trampoline has grown up with the trend in jumping fitness.  Friends can check out trampoline gyms for the entire family or a jumping fitness class.  It’s an awesome cardio workout that’s a lot of fun!

36. Spartan Race- Definitely for friends who really love a challenge, the Spartan Race is a series of obstacles that range from 3 miles to marathon distances. ESPN describes these races as a “true test of will” and this a great team building event.

37. Zumba- Ditch the workout and join the party! You’ll be constantly in motion at a Zumba class or event and have the potential of burning a 1,000 calories per class with dance moves that are fun and sassy.
