Fast Five Movie Date

comments icon 4 comments

Ahem…My name is Kari and I am a speed junky. 😉 I love fast cars — so naturally I am a fan of The Fast and The Furious franchise. I have dreams of owning a Hemi Cuda one day. For those of you who don’t know what kind of car that is…don’t worry, not all of us dream of owning a classic American muscle car with 900 horse-power and a flat black paint job. 😉 If you have driven a fast car…and I mean a truly fast car…you know what I’m talking about. If it’s fast enough to throw you back into the seat and suck the air right out of your lungs…then THAT is a fast car. Such an amazing thrill! Ah, anyway…

Planning this date with my husband was a thrill of it’s own. Basically I have been counting down the days to the release of the Fast Five into theaters. I live in a small town so if I can find something relating to this date I promise you can too! If your husband loves cars or anything fast, this is definitely a fun date for him and it will help you break out of the romantic-comedy mode we all seem to get a little stuck in. lol

Car Show

For the first part of our date we went to a car show. Yay! Have you ever been to one? They are actually pretty fun. Generally car shows aren’t very expensive, they are in every town starting in the spring, and can be a family activity if you so choose. The cars are really impressive even if you know nothing about cars. If you don’t have a car show in your town then I highly suggest going to a drag race in a town near you. They are extremely exciting to watch and it will definitely get you revved up to see Fast Five!

Let’s Eat!

One of the basic parts of the Fast and Furious movies is their “family” sitting down to dinner. Grilled dinner on a Sunday afternoon to be exact. So my husband and I made these scrumptious, yet healthy, grilled pizzas made on flat bread. Pick your own toppings and pile them high. Put them on the grill until the cheese is all melted and they are ready to serve. The Fast Five movie takes place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil…so if you are looking to have a fancier dinner for two…try authentic Brazilian recipes in the printable below.

Car Knowledge

After dinner I thought it would be fun to brush up on our Fast Five cars. For some reason it makes the movies just that much better when you actually know a little something about the cars that are in it. (Because let’s face it, we don’t go to these movies for the acting — we go for the cars!)  If not for the pure enjoyment of looking at the pictures of these cars…it will impress your spouse if you know just a little bit about the cars that are driven in the movie.  Such as the blown black ’70 Charger that us ‘gearheads’ just can’t seem to get enough of [and is probably why they keep bringing it back over and over]. Pay special attention to the ’70 Charger that I mentioned above (and also my personal favorite), the 2010 Dodge Charger SRT8, the Gurkha LAPV, the ’66 Ford GT40, the Ducati 1098 Street Fighter S, the ’65 Chevy Corvette sport (as shown in the picture above), and the 2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8.

Fast Five Movie

Fast Five Movie time! Buckle in and get ready for a thrill ride of a movie! Non-stop action and lots of explosions await you. If you’ve never seen any of The Fast and The Furious movies, but would like to — I highly recommend skipping the second (2 Fast 2 Furious) and third (Tokyo Drift) installments. They are both terrible movies (as proven at the box office and neither contain the original cast) and they  don’t follow the original story line. If you watch the first (The Fast and The Furious) and fourth (Fast and Furious) and then go to the fifth (Fast Five) it’s like watching a trilogy of movies without the really bad miscellaneous duo that randomly found their way into the franchise. Oh, and these three contain the original cast, too.

If you really want to step it up then I would recommend getting some cool ae Performance apparel for you and your husband. (You’ll see ae Performance logos throughout this movie). Also, as a side note, you’ll want to watch the movie until the very end. After the credits is a surprise twist that will leave you…well, you’ll just have to figure it out for yourself. 🙂

  1. YAY!! What a super fun date! Jamie would absolutely love this. And GIRL! I never realized how easily the name of those cars just roll off your tongue! You ARE a car junkie! 🙂 Luv ya!

  2. Thanks so much for the tip to stay thru the credits – only one other couple in our theater did 🙂 and I love the car show idea – we’d already planned our night out when I saw this post and we went on a weeknight but on the marquee at a restaurant next to the theater was info for a car show that weekend. I’m not a car buff but that woulda been a fun addition! Loved the whole theme!

  3. This sounds like a fun date! And the Brazilian food is a great touch, my hubby would love it (mission). Just a tip about the brigadeiro (not that this is a cooking site, I know 🙂 most brigadeiro recipes just call for a can of sweetened condensed milk instead of the milk and sugar. That makes the recipe about 100 times easier…

I’m new to your site and loving all the date ideas!
