Spin the Bottle: Board Game Edition

Remember how we said we had a REALLY difficult time deciding a winner for the Intimate Moments category of our Ultimate Creative Ideas Contest?! Today, we are thrilled to share another of our favorite entries from Gabby Turner that will spice up your marriage. We LOVED her sassy suggestion to create a spin the bottle board game for 2!

In Gabby’s own words: “Ever since I started dating my husband, I have loved to write him loves notes with treats and hide them in his lunch, car, and room. I love to plan creative dates and surprise him. One day, I stumbled across the Dating Divas website and was in HEAVEN! All of the cute, creative ideas were so exciting to me! The possibilities were endless. One Valentine’s Day, it was my turn to plan the date, and I decided to come up with my own love game! I had some of the old-fashioned looking IBC Cream Soda bottles in my fridge, which sparked an idea… Spin the Bottle!

Traditional Spin the Bottle wouldn’t be much fun with just two, so I knew I had to put my own twist on it. I developed a cute little circular game board, washed out one of the bottles, and put them into a big donut box I got for free at the grocery store.

The point of the game is to win the most points- either set a limit (example: 200 points) or a number of rounds (example: 5 rounds). Each action has a different point value (the more fun, enjoyable things= worth more points!). Earn points by taking turns spinning the bottle in the middle of the board, and completing the action in the space that the bottle lands on. We each wrote a wager we would give or do for the other person if they won and kept them secret until the end of the game (full body massage, all the dishes for a week, etc.)

It took a little time to put together, but it was easy and a really fun way to spend our Valentines. Another bonus- it wasn’t expensive at all!

Things you will need to make a Spin the Bottle Board Game:

  • Large pink piece of poster board
  • Clean glass bottle
  • Black marker
  • Spin the Bottle Printables
  • Glue
  • Small Notepad for keeping score
  • Chocolates (optional)

I cut out the biggest circle possible from the poster board. Use a ruler or large circular object to make your board a nice shape. Then, I drew a smaller circle in the middle where you can glue the logo. This is where you place the bottle and spin it. I drew 16 sections around the edge from the circle to the edges. In each of these spaces, glue a point value heart.

Here’s the fun part- deciding actions that you and your spouse will perform on your turn when you spin and land on that space. Write them in your cutest handwriting on each of the 16 spaces.

Some ideas you could put on your game board:

  • Give a massage.
  • Kiss on the neck, shoulders, or ear!
  • Tell your spouse you love them in 5 different ways
  • Makeout!
  • Sing a love song.
  • Whisper something sweet.
  • Hold hands for the next turn
  • Offer words of affirmation.
  • Remove an item of clothing.

Think of things you and your husband enjoy and add them!

If you want it to hold up really well, get it laminated! {If there’s nothing too embarrassing written on the board!}

I picked up a big donut box and put the board, bottle, notepad, chocolates, and directions inside. Then, I wrapped it up and gave it to my honey as his Valentine’s gift!

Let’s just say, the hubby LOVED this game. And still loves it! He is always asking to play it :) It was a HUGE hit!”
