Military Week: Coming Home
by Kristen
Giveaway Closed!
Hallelujah!
hallelujah, hallelujah… Oh sweet baby, HAL-AY-LUUU-YA!
The moment you have been longing for is finally here and your love will be in your arms before you know it! Homecomings are a time to celebrate, enjoy, relax, and just take in every little moment with every breath of anticipation, happiness and of course, relief!
It’s hard not to imagine over and over again the upcoming moment you will finally make eye contact and rush to embrace… the words of your heart screaming….
“I love you”
“I missed you”
“I am complete now that you’re here…”
Take all that lovin’ energy of anticipation and use it to create some fun and personal ways of celebrating this tender reunion and creatively telling your spouse just how A.N.X.I.O.U.S. you are!
Here are a few we came up with:
Ready… Set… Go!
* Homecoming Countdown *
Get a card/sign and kiss it with lipstick kisses totaling the number of days left ’til he comes home. Leave it one short and mail it to him prior to his homecoming telling him in your own sexy words that he’ll get that one in person {ooh la la!}
*We absolutely love Colette from My Computer Is My Canvas blog. She has shared a free countdown printable that would be just perfect for counting down the days ’til DADDY gets home.
Seriously… how cute is THIS?!
*Surprise Him*
BIG excitement deserves a BIG display! Your husband probably won’t be expecting a Camouflage Personalized Photo Banner at his homecoming, but imagine his face when he sees it… PRICELESS.
* Order or create your very own hilarious personalized shirt. I was simply DYING over the ones at CafePress.com! Sooo many to choose from and such a power statement to your soldier! Awww!
*GIFTS*
Not that your spouse needs anything more than just you and his family at his side when he gets home, you can still make it extra special by giving him a gift.
After loads of letter writing back and forth, wouldn’t it be great to get your spouse something to bring those precious love letters home in? Buy your own spouse a Love Satchel from Loving From a Distance.

Already a fan, and subscribe, and my husband is military. Thank you SO MUCH for doing this! I love telling people about Dating Divas!
As we were preparing for my husbands deployment, the advice was to count up how long they have been gone, rather than counting down. There are several reasons for this, one being that you never know exactly how long it will be, and the other for security reasons you shouldn’t be advertising travel dates of those who are deployed. That being said, I did create for my husband and for our children a huge jar of hugs and kisses to count down until he came home (figuring I could sneak in some extras or take them out as needed.) Each day the kids got a chocolate kiss from daddy and they watched him eat his hug and kiss over Skype. It was a fun tradition and helped them feel close to him, and they didn’t even feel bad when he came home early and there were still lots of kisses in the jar.
Lorraine- What a great way to count the days of his deployment. Thanks for sharing. I am sure that idea will help inspire other military couples.
