I’d Get LOST With You Any Day!

It’s true….my husband and I are “LOST” fans!!  *sigh* ….and it’s all gonna END this coming Sunday!  It’s the two-hour Season Finale!  Now…’s confession time….hopefully you’ll still love me……but……..we are about 1 1/2 seasons behind!! I know, I know….please think we are still cool…’cuz we ARE!!  We have faithfully recorded this entire season…to be watched as soon as we finish Season FIVE!  :)

My husband recently went back to school…and he just finished up the school year.  Finals were brutal and stressful….so I wanted to do something FUN and relaxing.  I did a Spa Night for us last week….but I also wanted to do something that involved cuddling with my man AND catching up on one of our favorite shows…..and THAT is how this whole idea started!

*Commercial Break*
Those of you who are not LOST fans….first of all, you SHOULD be {WINK}…..and second of all….a little background history:
Survivors of a plane crash (Flight 815) must work together to stay alive. The plane had lost communication and was 1000 miles off course when it went down, so it is not likely that they will be rescued any time soon. They are forced to deal with their inner demons, each other, and an island that turns up mystery after mystery. Also – there was a scientific group called the “Dharma Initiative” who conducted their experiments on that same island in previous years….they have an insignia of an octagon…which you will see a LOT of below!  The plane crash survivors eventually find remains of some food left behind by these scientists….which you will also see below!  Click HERE to read more about the background of LOST.
*Break Over*

The day began with a little note I left (with lipstick) on my husband’s mirror.
It read, “I would be LOST without you in my life.”
….I received a text later on that morning telling me that he LOVED the note!
Later on that day, after arriving home from work…I was working on preparing everything…and I realized that I was OUTTA time and the hubby was DUE to arrive home any minute!  Plus…I had not had time to make the dinner I had planned!  No problem…..Plan B – call the hot husband and ask him to grab us dinner!  This solved two problems: I “bought” myself more time to finish up…and we now had dinner!
Great choice…..’cuz LOOK what he brought home!  Some super yummy Greek food!  MMmmMM!!
When he arrived home and parked in the garage, he was greeted by a sign that was on our garage door:
(I’m a nerd, huh….)
He came in with a big grin on his face and asked, “Are we going to be catching up on all of our Lost episodes tonight?”  I laughed, gave him a big kiss, thanked him for grabbing dinner, and steered him towards the table…..
On the table I had a binder that said: “Dharma Initiative Operations Manual“, LOST cupcakes, two boarding passes (with our names on them) for Flight 815, and a present!
I typed up a little “love note” (& stuck it in the binder) explaining WHY I wanted to create this special night for him and telling him to get ready to jump into some P.J.’s,  cuddle with me, and eat lots of junk food!
Here is a glimpse of a ticket:
I found this website where you can MAKE your own tickets.  I then added my own touch in photoshop…these were for the Premiere of Season 6….but it was still a nice touch!  You can click HERE for PDF blank version of the tickets or HERE for the Word version. (By “blank”….I mean you can insert your own name.) OR – you can go to the website where I got mine and get your own…..HERE!  (He actually just came out with Season 6 Finale boarding passes – that’s at the end of this post…)
The “theme” of the night was “I’d get LOST with you any day!” I had it on everything!  What was in that present…you ask?  Oh…just some super cool “P.J” tops custom-designed by YOURS TRULY!!  :)
Here’s a closer look at what it said:
It was super easy to make!  After I created my design in Photoshop, I printed it on some iron-on t-shirt transfer paper (that goes in your printer).  I purchased it at Michael’s for somewhere between $5-7.  I had to flip the design before I printed it….and if you would like to make your OWN shirts, too….click HERE for my download.  :)
Then – I saw a cute idea for some “LOST Cupcakes” online…so I created some of my own!
Jamie LOVES white cake…so I used that for the cupcakes…
…frosted it with chocolate and make some palm trees outta paper…
…used a pack of toy airplanes purchased at the dollar store…and sprinkled on some toffee bits for effect!
Aren’t they CUTE!?!
(Jamie asked if the white one was supposed to be a space shuttle….oops….kinda looks like it, huh!  LOL)
After he read his note, opened his present, and put on his totally-awesome-not-nerdy “LOST” shirt, we went upstairs to the den:
(Yep – another Dharma Initiative sign!)
….he opened up the door to THIS:
It was our “LOVE” lifeboat!
Ok, ok… it was actually a kiddie pool….but I thought it looked CLOSE enough to pass as a raft.  (Ya know…’cuz they crash on an island….you get it, right?!?)
Even our PETS loved it!!
I decorate the room with a bunch of “Quarantined” signs…here are a few of them…
…there was a suitcase with clothes spilling out of it….for effect….
(plane crash = suitcases everywhere)
And THEN…the yummy food!!
The Drinks:
…the joke…
…and a super grainy (and cheesy) pic of my husband and I!!
(HEY!!  A new camera is on my “Wish List”….Santa?!?  Can you hear me??)
We cuddled up in our “raft” and watched episodes of Season 5 on our computer.  It was SUCH a fun night…and he was SO surprised…and although it was a lot of work…his smile and appreciation made it ALL worth it!
K….if you are not a “LOST” fan…you can become one at any time!  It’s addicting – pretty interesting stuff!  :) has them all online….you just have to watch annoying 30 second commercials every so often.  You can also watch them on ABC’s website (I believe they also have commercials).
This also does not have to be a date… can use these ideas for a party!
NOW – things you MAY find useful in planning your Season 6 Finale Night:
That’s ALL, folks!  Have a blast planning your “LOST” date/party!!

You guys are too cute. And I'm thinkin my hubby got jipped 'cause I'm not half as creative as you. Great ideas though. I have to say though, I was LOST with LOST about 3 seasons ago. Your note on the mirror- SUPER cute and love the idea about personalized tickets. Always great ideas over here.

You did such a great job planning this! I wish I was a Lost fan too, just so I could do this Date night. Hulu, here we come!

  10. Kiirsty says:

Holy MOLY! We have watched every single episode of LOST (yes, we had to catch up a season or two years ago and haven't missed it since) and this is the PERFECT POST! THANKS GIRL!

  11. Scrappy Gifts says:

How awesome! I love Lost too. Maybe I'll have to do this when we feel like watching Lost over again in the future since a lot of things would make more sense watching it a 2nd time.

  12. Beth says:

You are crazy, crazy, crazy…creative. Seriously. How in the world do you come up with these things? I think you need to start some kind of business with your creative skills.

  13. Tara says:

Yay! I am glad you all liked it! :)

Char – it didn't take too long….but I also did it over time. For example, I grabbed the toy planes and iron-on transfer paper on one of my "errand" trips. I made the paper trees another night. I created the signs, boarding passes, and t-shirts another night, etc. The actual night of – I think I spent about three hours…..but a lot of that time was spent cleaning the den out! LOL It needed a major overhaul! If you divy everything up from now until Sunday night – you should have plenty of time to get everything ready!

Mel – Yes, I bought the raft with this date in mind. I actually have some ideas on how I can use it in future dates….so I consider it an investment. :) You can also call around and ask your friends if they have a raft or kiddie pool that you can borrow! I originally did that….but none of our friends had a raft or a big enough pool. The pool worked really well because we filled it with pillows and then threw in a down comforter!

    Have FUN!! :)

  14. Kari says:

Haha, so fun! Loved this idea. I've never actually watched Lost…don't kill me. But we are HUGE Scrubs fans. So I'm planning to do a little spin of my own on this date. Adam is going to have a good laugh! Wahoo!

  15. Whitney Parry says:

such a great idea!!!!! Love it.. thanks for sharing!

  16. Megan says:

This is such a great idea! I'm going to do this for my husbands birthday tomorrow. But the link to the Dharma food labels said it contained malware and my computer wouldn't let me log on… did you have any problems with it? Got any other places you can get those same things??? Thanks!

  17. The Kay Family says:

Awesome ideas!!! We didn't watch the finale yesterday, but instead, we're having a date night tonight to watch it. Where did you get your large logos of the "stations" for the doors (garage/den doors)?? Thanks!!

  18. Tara says:

Megan – I didn't have any troubles downloading the labels…..and we have anti-virus software on our computer. I don't know any other sites that offer those. If nothing else works….you could always just right-click and copy the sign above that I used on the den/garage door, paste it into a Word document, and then resize it to whatever you need. Good Luck!

Kay Family – The large logos are from the "Lost" font I downloaded. You can either download the font OR do the same thing that I told Megan. Right-click and copy the image I have above.

Have fun, ladies! Soooo glad there are other "LOST" fans out there! :)
