My husband is a big fan of s’mores! Who isn’t? Chocolate, marshmallows, graham crackers…wow, I am making some right now! For my man’s big 3-0, I decided to make s’mores with a twist. Check out this awesome and EASY recipe!

Indoor S’mores

3/4 cup light corn syrup

1 pkg. chocolate chips

1 tsp. vanilla

3 tbsp. butter

1 box of Golden Graham Cereal

3 c. mini marshmallows

Heat syrup, butter, and chocolate chips to a boil (be sure to stir constantly). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over cereal in a bowl. Be sure to coat all of the cereal. Add marshmallows 1 cup at a time. Finally, place cereal in a 9×13 pan. I like to press down the mix and let stand for one hour before serving.

Smore’s not your man’s thing? What about a carrot cake? This recipe has been in Kari’s family for generations.

My dad’s mother used to make this cake and when she passed away, her husband made it for us. So every time that I taste this cake it takes me back. When my grandfather passed away, I decided to make this cake as a surprise for my dad’s birthday. Since no one had learned how to make it (my grandfather made it to perfection – so why learn?), I decided to try my hand at it and see how it went. Luckily, the taste of this cake is divine.

This cake takes some practice but its SO good that it is worth it to try! Especially if your darling spouse is a carrot cake fan. Download this recipe below – you can’t go wrong!

I LOVE the look of fondant on cake. You know that smooth frosting that looks so pretty and is seen mostly on wedding cakes it seems? Oooh, if only I could do this on every single birthday cake I made for my family…Oh wait, what? I can?? Most party stores have the option of buying pre-made fondant and is pretty easy to use and not too expensive. the downside? It tastes like chalk! I then found this awesome recipe and tutorial on how to make marshmallow fondant.

What a brilliant idea! Marshmallow frosting! YUMMY! So I tested it out on my daughters birthday cake this past year. And you know who was caught gobbling this up and begging for more?? Hint…It wasn’t my daughter…

Try marshmallow fondant on your hubby’s next birthday cake and he sure will be pleased! (I bought circle cookie cutters from Michael’s to use for cutting out my polka dots.)

If fondant isn’t your thing, maybe this idea will be “FORE” you!

I about died when my friend showed me the cutest “Cupcake cake” which was decorated to look like a golf course. This cake is the perfect choice for any avid golfer. My husband’s favorite thing, besides me…lol, is golfing! It’s one of his passions, and he’s pretty darn good at it too! I am SOOO not a chef {that would be our Diva, Kari} but I decided to bite the bullet and produce a golf masterpiece for my man anyway. He is definitely worth the effort!

If you would like to recreate this…here are a few tips/ingredients I will pass along.

  • FIRST, frost all the sand traps with white frosting AND frost the rest of the cupcakes with green frosting.
  • The sand trap is made from crushing Vanilla Wafers into dust …ok, ok, not dust…but it sure crunches up great and it looks SO realistic! Just roll the tops of 6-7 cupcakes in it.
  • The “green” (area around the hole) is just those green crystal sprinkles you buy…it also looks SUPER realistic! Roll the tops of 7 cupcakes in this.
  • I took the “easy” way out and instead of doing a million and one blades of grass, I dyed coconut green and sprinkled that on top of the cupcakes that were representing the “rough.”
  • I cut out fruit leather to create the flag, a pretzel stick is the pole, and an over sized chocolate chip turned upside-down is the hole.
  • The golf ball…GULP! That was hard! It’s a gumball dipped in corn syrup and then coated with white sprinkles. It is balancing on a yellow smartie … as the tee!

That is everything you need to know to recreate this fabulous Golf Course Cake “fore” your man. He is going to love it…my man sure did!

Lastly, we have another cupcake idea that your man is sure to love. Peanut Butter Cupcakes!! Need I say more?? It started this year, and WILL be a tradition for my hubby’s birthday here on out. He is so in love!! And they are incredible! The recipe comes out of the most amazing book… 101 Gourmet Cupcakes in 10 minutes, by Wendy Paul, AND it’s your lucky day! Wendy has given me permission to share this recipe as a sneak peek of her book with all of you!!

1 box of chocolate cake mix

3 eggs

1 cup milk

1 bag of chocolate peanut butter cups

Mix together cake mix, eggs, and milk. Pour 2 tablespoons of batter into paper liners and place peanut butter cup on top. Fill papers 3/4 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.

1 cup of peanut butter

1/2 cup of butter (room temperature)

2 cups of powdered sugar

3-4 Tbsp. of milk or cream

1 tsp. of vanilla extract

Cream butter and peanut butter together in a bowl, mix until light and fluffy. Add sugar, 3 Tbsp. milk or cream and vanilla. Start slow, mix together increasing the speed. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add 1 Tbsp milk or cream if too thick.

  1. My hubby loves all kinds of goodies, but I know he’d really love those peanut butter cupcakes! And I swear cupcakes taste better than cake so I make them quite often. Weird, I know, but I really do think they taste better. 🙂

  2. OOOH! Such wonderful ideas! They all look like so much fun to try! I love being a subscriber & my dear sweet hubby’s favorite birthday foods are lasagna & double layer chocolate fudge cake! (Neither of which are my favorites!)

  3. I love your ideas so of course I am a subscriber. My husbands favorite dessert is tirarmissu(sp?) and he really doesn’t have a favorite thing that he asks for all the time but we love fonduing.

  4. I am a subscriber! My hubby’s favorite treat is carrot cake! I just attempted making a carrot cake for his birthday last week…. I wish I had this recipe, it looks yummy! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks!

  5. I am a new subscriber. Apparently we have lost the spark, which is why I am here.

Hubby loves cheesecake, has celiac but won’t take measures to avoid gluten on his own, and loves movies and golfing, although he hasn’t been able to play for several years because of time and/or money. *sigh*

5 kids makes it challenging to give him attention he needs.

Thank you for great ideas to try to win him back.

  6. I think I’m a subscriber. I tried to sign up…but it kept saying I was missing information?

I have the dating diva’s in my blogroll sidebar. Love it!

My hubby’s favorite birthday food? KEY LIME PIE!!

    1. Wanda! I re entered your email… now you just have to confirm it with the email that was sent to you! Thanks for letting us know it was giving you an error.

  7. I’m a subscriber and a faithful follower. I love making treats and have been looking for new ideas with cupcakes to do with my kids, and for my kid’s bdays that are coming up way too fast. Favorite hubby birthday food lately has been the “better then sex” cake. I made it for my husband’s last two birthdays and he loves it! I have to admit, I love it almost as much as he does! There’s always my homemade lasagna he can count on too. Mmmm, I’m hungry!

  8. I am a subscriber! You girls have great ideas! And my husband is weird and doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, but my favorite treat is hot fudge brownie a la mode. Yum! 🙂

  9. I am an official newsletter reader. My husband is such a carnivore so he loves a big ole’ ribeye as a treat and always requests my honeybun cake for his birthday. My son would love those PB cupcakes so I am gonna hold on to that one for him. He LOVES peanut butter!

  10. Such fun ideas! My hubby always requests oatmeal raisin cookies. I know, I know- all sorts of yummy chocolate desserts to choose from and he picks raisin cookies. What can ya do? lol.

  14. I subscribed last week but haven’t received a newsletter yet. Did I miss it? I did get the printables and LOVE those. Such a cute idea! Also, my hubby’s favorite birthday treat is creme brulee, which I learned to make when I (briefly) lived in Paris during college. It’s not the quickest treat to make, so he usually only gets it once a year, on his birthday. 🙂 Thanks girls for all the great ideas. I am a huge fan!

  15. I am really an official newsletter subscriber now, I uhh forgot the last step last week :-/ so anyway my H is partial to chocolate and coconut so I am making him a Mounds/Almond Joy cake Devils Food cake with semi sweet choc chips mixed in and frosted in a coconut whipped cream. 17. I subscribe and am a loyal reader! 😀

My hubby doesn’t have favorites of anything. He’s so easy going and just likes everything. It’s seriously easier to ask him what he doesn’t like and to ask me what his “favorites” are because he never seems to know. So we don’t have any birthday food traditions for him {yet – I’m determined to find something he absolutely loves!} but he does really like cheesecake so I make that for his birthday quite frequently. My favorite is angel food cake.

  18. My sister told me about your blog and now I’m a subscriber. My hubby’s favorite treat is banana cream pie. I would love to win this cookbook…I’m a HUGE cupcake fan!!!

  19. I am a subscriber! 🙂

The hubby likes chocolate cake, and he’s pretty basic with that. However, he’ll be home on leave around St. Patrick’s Day and since we missed his bday this past year, I think I will give that a try. Too cute!

  25. I am definitely an official subscriber, and my hubby’s favorite birthday treat is pie, pie, pie. His number one pick would probably be banana cream, but any kind of pie will do!

EVERYONE knew about it…my family…friends…bosses…everyone but me! All I had to do was stop at the ATM for some money and my bags were packed and we were ready to go!

What a wonderful treat!

My favorite birthday memory is on my husband’s birthday the first year we were together…I knew he hated country music, but he didn’t know that I knew, so I told him I had tickets to a huge country music concert that was going on that night, but planned a switch-and-bait. I played it up and acted all excited to go and he didn’t want to disappoint me by saying he didn’t want to go, then I suprised him with a day of fun at a mountain resort (alpine slide, mountain coaster, zip-lining, hedge maze, hiking, etc.) and dinner at a Brazillian restaurant (his favorite).

  83. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

I think all my birthdays were wonderful because I got to share them with my twin sister. We always had double everything! 🙂 Any theme we wanted, we got or if we were at odds with the theme we just meshed the two! It made for some pretty interesting parties! I will never forget them.

  84. I am an official subcriber! My hubby’s favorite birthday treat is Fruit Pizza. I tried making it once and it didn’t turnout so well. He has been the official Fruit Pizza maker in our home. He is the best.

  86. I’m an official subscriber to the newsletter and my husbands favorite birthday treat is the cake! His only request every year is for a white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream frosting!

  87. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!” ….My FAVORITE Birthday was my sweet sixteen! First you need to know that the special thing about turning 16 is that is the age when you can start dating! On with the story….My mom told me to get all dolled up and she was going to take me out to dinner. After getting in the car my mom told me we had to make a quick detour to pick someone else up – we ended up picking up 3 of my guy friends {who all happen to have a some kind of flower for me}. We all went to the Macaroni Grill for dinner – my mom, me, and my 3 dates! It was so much fun to have 3 “first” dates! My mom is so cute!

  88. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!” My favorite Birthday memory was just last week! I turned 23 and my mom drove up from three hours away and surprised me with a day of shopping, lunch and fun! Then my husband planned a surprise dinner with all of my family at my FAVORITE place, the Olive Garden! Great Birthday!! 🙂

  89. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!” ….Last year I had gone downstairs to get something…when I came to the top of the stairs my husband and 1 yr old daughter where standing there. My daughter was holding a balloon 2 and 1/2 times her size and my hubby had a dozen roses. It was a sweet, simple surprise! 🙂

  90. I’m a subscriber and official newsletter reader! My husband’s favorite cake is a chocolate cake mix baked, topped with whipped topping and a can of cherry pie filling. He’s been having it for his birthday almost every year since he was a little kid.

  91. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

My favorite birthday was my 16th! I moved from Washington State to Utah when I was 14 and 1/2 and it was a hard move for me. I missed my friends so much and had to start high school without knowing anyone! But for my 16th birthday my mom totally surprised me and flew my best friend down from Washington to visit me for a week! I was in Salt Lake at a youth activity on Temple Square and when I came out of the Legacy Theater in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building my mom was standing there! She told me to come in the bathroom because she had bought me an outfit and wanted me to try it on… and I walked in to the bathroom thinking, “That’s weird she left an outfit in here, someone could steal it…” As I’m walking in looking around for said “outfit” I see my best friend standing there! I started crying tears of joy. It was the best birthday ever. I hope someday to be that amazing of a mother!

  92. It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to.
One of my favorite birthday memories is last years birthday. I went out with a bunch of friends & a date to Samuari 21… the date is now my husband. 🙂
When I was younger I always celebrated my birthday with my sister. Her birthday is the day before mine. We are 1 day less than a year apart.

  93. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to…
I turned 30 last year and was without my hubby. My family surprised me with cake and lots of fun. They made me feel like I wasn’t forgotten for that special day. It was very fun even without my love. 🙂 And he sent me flowers and a Spa Day gift certificate! 😀

  94. hmmm, actually finished reading the newsletter, so lets try this again:
“It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

    birthday memory:
for my husbands birthday, we usually do some sort of theme with the food. One year it was “southern” food and I made gumbo and blackened fish and more. Another year it was Mexican: tacos, caviche, et cetera.
One year we did a simple (or not so much) ice cream sunday bar. This year the theme was German food. Schintzle is absolutely amazing and actually easy to make!

  95. I am a newsletter subscriber!!! My amazing husband is the baker in our family so it’s hard for me to make something that he can’t make better. BUT, thank goodness for Costco and their wonderful chocolate, chocolate and chocolate cake. It’s devine and he loves it. One day I will be able to make him something out of this world!

  96. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!” ….

My wonderful birthday moment is when my hubby got me a pink camera! I was so shocked because I hadn’t asked for one, but I REALLY wanted/needed one! And it was pink! 🙂

  97. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”….My Favorite birthday memory is hard to choose, I have so many. But my all time favorite was when my best friend threw me a surpise party for my 22nd birthday and at that same time my husband and I got back together and ended up getting married! Good times!

  98. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

At first I thought I was supposed to share a bad birthday story and I have a whole bunch of those.

My best birthday was probably when I turned 19- I was dating a guy at college and the semester ended about a week before my birthday and he (and my older sister’s boyfriend) came out to meet my parents my birthday weekend. We had a great time and a little bit after my birthday he asked me to marry him.

  99. It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to! My best birthday memory? When I was 16 my mom made all these awesome signs and posted them on posts so I would see them on the way to school, and a huge sign on the fence at school. I guess I like attention. It was fun to feel special!

  100. It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to!

My favorite birthday memory is from my 16th. I actually woke up to a mustang convertible in the driveway. I was so excited until I tried to start it and it made a horrid noise. The deal was I got the car after I helped my dad replace the fly wheel. That lesson in car care still helps me today.

  101. My wonderful husband LOVES when I make him my lemon cake with homemade whipped cream and garnished with blueberries…raspberries and strawberries!!! His absolute FAV!!!

  102. My husbands favorite birthday treat is a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake! In fact, he loves that so much, that was what we served as his Groom’s cake at our wedding! It was the first cake completely gone!! lol!

  103. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

I will always remember my 9th birthday. It was the last one I was able to spend with my dad. He passed away a few months later. It was wonderful to take all my gifts to the hospital and share them with him even though he wasn’t actually there for the party.

  104. My hubby’s favorite birthday dessert is icecream cake…I make a mock one during the year with oreo as the base…but on his actual birthday, it is the real deal!!!

  105. It’s my party and I’ll cry it I want to. My favorite birthday was the one where I turned 13. My church had a surprise party for me and it really was a surprise. I felt so special, not to mention I thought something magical was happening since I had just become a teenager. *sigh*

  106. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!!!

My favorite birthday memory is when I was turning 20. I was living away from home, and my mom had gotten a hold of one of my roomies and sent little presents for me to recieve throughout the day. I felt so special!!!

  107. It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want too.

My most memorable birthday was my twenty third. I had just gotten home from my mission a few months prior. My younger sister threw my a party and invited lots of new friends and old friends. I enjoyed a fun party where I was blind folded and the party guests got to do whatever they were told to do by my sister who was behing me. I game is called slap, hug, kiss,so the person will either be told to slap, hug, or kiss the person that is blind folded in this case it was meand then I got to guess who it was that either slap, hug, or kissed me. It was a very fun and interesting game.

  108. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!
Hubby and I have both been married before, so we get the wonderful opportunity of knowing a lot about marriage, but relatively little about each other. How exciting! His 9 siblings are so great and supportive; last year, his older sister sent us some homemade Dutch apple pie filling (hubby’s favorite!) for Christmas. I got the hint and made Dutch apple pie. He was so excited to have an early birthday treat! Before dishing it out, he took a few pictures of it… “I want to remember what it looks like even though it’ll be gone in about two days!” What a great birthday!

  109. My husband’s favorite birthday treat is the traditional chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream and a vanilla based ice cream with chocolate and caramel!

  110. “It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to.”

One of my favorite birthdays was my eighth birthday. My Grandma took me to Leatherby’s and I got to order the biggest ice cream sundae they had. It was wonderful!

  111. It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to.

My favorite birthday memory was when I turned 16. My two best friends snuck into my room and DECKED it out with balloons, confetti, streamers, notes, and gifts. And I mean DECKED!!! I couldn’t even step into my room it was so packed and I’m pretty sure they used a whole bag of confetti just to dump into my bed under the comforter. I felt so loved!!

  112. Ohhh! I forgot to say thanks for the Carrot cake recipe! It’s my husbands FAVORITE! I can never get his mom’s recipe right – I think this one might be the new winner!

  113. “It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want too…”

My husband has a strange fascination with ninja turtles, so last year i had a blast dressing up his birthday party with ninja turtle banners and a man hole (that I made myself), turtle cupcakes, green ooze punch, green jello, and pizza! We had a bunch of his friends and their kids over and had a blast playing games and using our best ninja voices.
The whole thing was a blast! I even made my hubby ninja turtle pj’s! I think I had more fun putting the whole occasion together than anything else.

  114. It’s my birthday, I’ll cry if I want to

My man’s fav birthday treat is pumpkin pie. My fav bday was before my husband and I were married he took me to my first art museum in Chicago, a 3 1/2 hour train ride each way. It was a surprise, he wouldn’t tell me where we were going, what we were doing or anything 🙂

  115. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!…
One of my favorite birthday memories was my 26th…my husband helped coordinate an entire day of fun for me, including a fun lunch on Santa Monica Pier with a bunch of friends, then drinks at a swanky Santa Monica hotel bar, then a super-fun karaoke night at a local bar…and the BEST part was…he led the ENTIRE bar in singing happy birthday to me on the microphone, and then surprised me with a beautiful cake he had specially made for me…pink and black…my favorite!!! I felt so special and loved my all my friends, and especially my hubby 🙂

  116. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

My favorite birthday memory is of two years ago when my husband kidnapped me a took me to my favorite restaurant and then mini-golfing. It was great.

  117. It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to.

Before my husband and I were married….or even engaged….he took me to Europe with his family for my birthday. We spent my actual birthday in Paris and he sang happy birthday to me under the eiffel tower. It was definately the best birthday ever!!!

  118. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

My favorite birthday memory was my last one! Hubby took me on a trip for the first time since our little guy was born. A glorious two days without any responsibility other than spending birthday money, eating great food, going to the temple, and sleeping! We celebrated with our baby before I left and it was so sweet to have the best birthday present ever!

  119. Of course I’m a newsletter subscriber…I need all the help I can get! My hubby’s favorite desert? Pecan Pie, Ice cream, or pretty much anything with sugar!

  120. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!

My favorite birthday memory was when I was a teenager, for my birthday, my family and I would go camping, and I got to take a friend along to \hang out with\ for the weekend.

  121. “It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

I decided that I wanted to spent my birthday weekend in portland oregon and just have a no stress no kids type of weekend. Great idea, right! Well my husband said he wasn’t going to be able to make it up there with me because he had to work. He is only a homa a few nights a month because of his job. But by that time I had everything all planned, reserved and paid for. So I figured I would still go by myself. So I got to portland and was getting off the plane thinking to myself, I really wish he was here, and no sooner I thought that to myself I looked up and he was standing there!!! 😀 The weekend couldn’t of went better!!!

  122. “It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to!!”
I love being suprised! Last year for my birthday my husband totally suprised me. He’d been sweet to me all day but I hadn’t gotten anything from him yet. We both left for work that day. A few hours later I returned from work. My house was totally decorated with balloons, birthday signs, and confetti! On the table was a cake made by him, (which meant a lot considering he hates to cook) and a bunch of gifts. It was my first birthday as a married woman and one I will never forget!

  123. My husband’s all time favorite is to be able to pig-out on sushi . . . and not just the cheap stuff, but the good Happy Sumo, Takashi, or Koi restaurant sushi! Very expensive, but he’s worth it.

  124. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!”

My all-time favorite birthday was when my boyfriend surprised me and threw a birthday party for me!!! It was awesome because for once I wasn’t doing the planning so I was completely caught off guard <33

  125. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to

My favorite birthday was last year. We didn’t do anything spetacular, but I was holding our brand new baby girl in my arms and we spent it just the three of us. She was the best birthday present ever.

My husband’s favorite birthday treat is cheeseburgers. He doesn’t have a big sweet tooth and would rather eat anything than ice cream.

  126. It’s my birthday & I’ll cry if I want to!

I loved my birthday last year–we went out to eat (which we never do!), got free ice cream at Cold Stone, and then seeing a movie at the dollar theater I had no idea existed (Percy Jackson–I had just barely finished reading the books) we went and saw it on a whim! It was awesome. 🙂

  127. I subscribed & already got my first newsletter…

My hubby’s favorite treat is German Chocolate cake… I’m thinking this year since I am addicted to making cake pops that I would do some with chocolate cake and dip them in chocolate and top with the coconut icing too! Hopefully it’s really yummy – in my head it looks awesome.

  128. It’s my birthday and I’ll cry if I want to!

Ladies, I just wanted you to know how much I absolutely LOVE reading your blog. Upon receiving my first newsletter, I was so excited to hear about all the fantastic up and coming posts on the website! My idea of a fantastic birthday happened a while ago. I received a gift certificate for a couple’s massage and soak at Sego Lily Spa. Talk about a steamy time! My husband and I had such a romantic and relaxing time and it was such a nice break from our busy lives. It was such a great Birthday and I hope some of you have had the chance to try this great spa experience!!!

  129. I LOVE all of these ideas for my hubby’s birthday! I just wish that you all had done this a week earlier because that’s when his birthday is. I’ve showed him all of the fun things you ladies have put together, and he LOVES it. I’ll just do it next year for him, and he won’t remember any of it so it’ll still be a surprise!

Thanks, ladies for all you do! I’m addicted to your blog and new website!
