Hopefully all of you had a VERY Merry Christmas! We sure did! Now it’s time to ring in the New Year…..and just in case you are exhausted and still recovering from all of your shopping, caroling, & eggnog/hot cocoa chugging – we decided to step in & help you out!
Using one of our FAVORITE “research methods” (Ahem, Pinterest) we found some AMAZING & fun ways to celebrate New Year’s Eve!!
Yesterday, Lisa M. shared the FUN party we did last year for New Year’s. PLENTY of fun ideas to help you out in throwing your own shing-dig together in a jiffy! If you missed it, be sure to check it out!
Corie came up with this cute idea last year – and it popped up when I searched for fun New Year’s ideas for the family. She put together something fun for the children to do every hour…ON the hour as a fun way to count down to midnight!
Secrets of a Super Mommy came up with 10 fun family activities to make this a special occasion for both young & old. From resolutions to fondue & finger food to videotaping your children answering questions….there is something for everyone!
We’ve done a Time Capsule before on our website but I really liked this idea & how SIMPLE it was! Maybe it was the hilarious picture of the whole family with mustaches that caught my eye. A family that took a picture like that MUST be pretty cool! Whatever it was, I thought this was neat enough to pass along. Keeping mementos from the previous year (a movie ticket, a brochure from a place that was visited..) & dropping them in the jar OR putting it all together on New Year’s Eve – whatever fits the style of your family.
What a CUTE idea to create a fun backdrop to snap photos! Even if you don’t have a party – I think it would be adorable to stage something saying, “New Year’s Eve, 2011” & take fun & silly pictures of each member of the family.
One of our reader’s shared this idea on Facebook and I fell in love….especially when I saw the photo above! *sigh* This would be fun ANYTIME – but how neat to start off the new year by exchanging beautiful fortunes…secretly written beforehand & revealed after the clock strikes midnight.
Some of our readers shared some cute ideas with us in Facebook.
- Laura said, “My hubby and I set the clocks back two hours and celebrate “midnight” with our little ones. Then when they go to bed, we get to celebrate REAL midnight just the two of us, grown-up style! When the kids are still awake we play silly party games like pin-the-tail and we put on a fashion show dressing each other up in streamers.”
- Makana said, “Since we have lots a friends that are away from family too, I am planning on doing a “progressive dinner” with them that night. We drive to various houses (or resturaunts) and eat a certain thing there. House #1: appetizers…. #4 dessert etc. You could do this with or without kids.”

Last of all, definitely don’t forget to end 2011 & begin 2012 with STYLE! A long romantic KISS with your sweetheart!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
