I “found” Sachiko’s website when I saw one of her Guest Posts on another site.  Her tutorials are AMAZING!  I then jumped on her site & began browsing….and fell even MORE in love!  Besides being UBER-talented, she is SUCH a sweetheart!  Here she is…..

Hi! I am Sachiko from Tea Rose Home!  I think “The Dating Divas” is such a fun, informative place to be and I love how Tara and the other amazing women came together for a great purpose… which is to give people ideas and encouragement to keep our marriages fresh and loving.

Family life as well as the relationship with my husband is the most important thing to me, and I feel honored to be a guest blogger here today. 🙂

On my blog I share sewing/craft ideas and tutorials and a little bit about my life. I love anything that lets me be creative, but my love is deeply rooted in beautiful fabrics, sewing and quilt making. I host weekly link parties too, so if you have something you have created and want to share with everyone, come on over and have a blast!

Today, I am going to share three things I do to keep my marriage a fun and happy one. We have been married for over 16 years, and we’ve been through a lot together; my medical problems, loss of jobs, and so many other things that life throws at us. Thankfully, each time we’ve come out closer and stronger as a couple…and I believe part of the reason why is because of these things I am going to share with you. 🙂

l. Laugh often and show him that I am thinking of him.

It is nice to do something special for special occasions, but small gifts, funny cards, or phone calls “just because” are always nice. We both love to laugh, so we often play around,  exchange jokes, and I often love giving him silly gifts. Here is one of the silly gifts I gave him, and he got such a kick out of it. My husband and I look pretty close to those pez dispensers. I just painted Pluto’s hair red just like my husbands. {My husband’s pez dispenser looks a little worn out, because our kids let their “daddy” fight with their figures.}

2. Cook and eat together

I think the saying, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach”, is not too far from truth.  It is hard to be grouchy or angry when you are eating good food, right? Besides, I want him to come home to a nice aroma of a home cooked dinner after a long day of work.  I am not saying that I cook a nice dinner every single day. Let’s face it, my family life is so busy and crazy that sometimes I say “Ok, drive-thru everyone!”  But, I try to cook as much as possible, and eat together as much as our schedules allow. Sometimes I will call him up and find out when he will be home, if that means we all have to wait an extra 10 min for him, we will wait for him and eat as a family.  Having some signature dishes is also a plus… everytime I cook them, he falls in love with me all over again.

3. Take care of myself

Let’s face, in the past 16 years, my husband has seen me in the worst conditions…..that I never wanted other people to see. He has seen that many, many times.  BUT, that doesn’t mean I am OK with it and I can let myself go. I want him to still look at me and think that I am attractive to him.  I love dressing up a little when we go out on dates, too.  The ruffle shirts, some bags, other clothing refashions, they all come in handy to coordinate with what I have.

Of course there are so many other things, but I think the key to a happy marriage is to have open communication. To listen to each other and accommodates both needs and wants, with love and respect.  The things I shared with you today may seem small, but they matter a lot to me. I hope you enjoyed my visit here, come see me at my blog and say “hi”.

Ummmm…..yeah…..so don’t you just want to DIVE into those food pictures and eat all of that yummy food up!?!  What about those DIY sewing projects?!?  Those clothes are adorable!  You would DIE if you saw how plain those pieces of clothing were…..before Sachiko got her hands on them.  Head on over to her website & check it out.  You won’t be disappointed!  🙂

  1. Hi Courtney and Pat, thank you for your comments!

    Yes, they are gyoza, my family loves them so much that I usually make tons and freeze them. It is so convenient when I don’t have much time to cook dinner.
