Smooth, Hair-Free Skin with the Best At-Home Wax Around!

Raise your hand if you absolutely LOVE having silky smooth skin, especially on date night. It’s the best, am I right? I mean, it’s why there is an entire beauty industry dedicated to every form of hair removal. Everywhere we look there are options for shaving, creams, waxing, sugaring and more. As a wife, woman, and esthetician I am pretty sure I have tried (and performed) them all and have my favorite forms of getting rid of that unwanted facial and/or body hair and that, of course, is waxing! I love the results and the length of time I can go between waxes and nowadays you can even do wax treatments at home!

But some people worry it can also be a huge hassle or even worse, a BIG pain!

So why, do you ask, would a person actually want to even attempt an at-home wax?

Well you are in luck ladies, not only are at-home waxing kits way more affordable and convenient than hiring someone to rip out all of your leg hair, they’ve also come a long way since those scary wax strips used in the ’90s.

Now, you can choose between strips, heated wax or even sugar waxing for your at-home hair removal needs because there are amazing products out there and after trying them all I am here to tell you LOOK. NO. FURTHER. Parissa Wax is all you need for all your hair removal needs. Parissa Wax products are packed with good-for-you ingredients like Vitamin E and Azulene to help stave off post-wax redness and irritation, too. PLUS they have products developed to fit each and every type of hair and body part! We can wax it all! {Wink} But in all seriousness, I love that we can get it all done from one source. From your brows all the way down to your toes, and everything in-between if you know what I mean!

Plus, the results last so much longer than shaving, which means you don’t have to wax as often—leaving more time in your life for the things that really matter (like date night).

So come on, it’s time to turn on your favorite music. Lock the door and enjoy your favorite treat while we get you all ready for date night with your spouse tomorrow night. Let’s make this waxing experience a little “me time” in your busy life and something you actually might look forward too!

I’ve been doing this for years now and can give myself a full Brazilian with less discomfort and a better end result than if I’d gone to a spa. The first and most crucial step is…

Buy the right wax. I’ve tried THEM ALL, and have finally found a wax that works so perfectly, I will never experiment with another for as long as I live: Parissa Ultimate Brazilian Body Hard Wax.

One thing I LOVE about this wax kit, other than the wax which is filled with all kinds of great ingredients is that it comes packed with EVERYTHING you need for the perfect wax. It’s a no-brainer kit. Which if you’ve ever done any at-home body waxing, you know that the last thing you want to be doing is scrambling for scissors or tweezers with wax on your body. {Wink}

  • Make sure you are alone. I say this for two reasons. First, I’d rather have one of those accidental double chin selfies (you know the type) released to the entire world, than have a single soul walk in on me waxing. Second, if people are home (like those kiddos we love so much) make sure to have a helping hand and time to yourself. LOCK the DOOR.  The last thing you want is a mishap with kiddos and hot wax.
  • Heat the wax. At one point in college, I didn’t have a wax warmer, so I heated the aluminum container in a shallow pot of boiling water. This was a terrible idea. I recommend investing in a wax warmer, as it’ll keep the wax consistently heated while you work, and I find it to be less messy. Again, Parissa’s Ultimate Brazilian Hot Waxing Kit COMES WITH this wax warmer so you are all set.
  • Make sure your hair is the right length. Aim for around ¼ inch of growth. Too short, and the wax won’t be able to grab the hair enough to pull it out at the root (although Parissa actually has a wax for short, coarse hair too)! Too long, and you’ll be in massive amounts of pain because you have little-to-no control over which tangled and unruly hairs the wax grabs onto as you apply. If the hair is longer than a ¼ inch, trim it shorter with scissors. Parissa has their own little pair of nifty scissors that came in my kit.
  • DO NOT Pre-Clean. This is different than other waxes. But with Parissa Wax, they use such a high quality of resin that the wax can grip just fine and your natural body oils provide a nice buffer between the wax. For sensitive types, they even recommend using baby powder.
  • Stir and test the wax. You should be doing this constantly while you work. Again, the wax warmer is best for keeping a consistent, safe temperature. Take an applicator stick and stir the pot, scrape off excess wax and dab the inside of your wrist to test—you’ll know if it’s too hot.
  • Smear the wax on your hair. Work in sections—I start with the Brazilian area and then move to my legs. (That’s when the makeup mirror on the floor starts to come in handy. Totally blushing here!) For the hard wax, apply as thick as you would peanut butter on a slice of bread. Each smear should be about an inch wide and up to three inches long. I like to make sections big enough to make the process worth it, but small enough to be “in control”—and always in the direction of the hair growth. Let the wax sit for about 30 seconds to harden a bit; you should be able to hear a tapping noise when you hit it with your fingernail. That’s what’s great about this wax—it’s basically hard plastic, and once it’s on, there’s only one way to get it off…
  • Rip. Pull the section off in the opposite direction of the hair growth—do your best to try to hold the skin beneath the section taut while you pull away to lessen the pain. It will be excruciating, that I can guarantee. I think it was Carl Jung who said, “There is no coming to consciousness without pain,” so this will be a transformative experience for sure. Also, remind yourself that the wax will come off no other way—it’s not going to melt away under warm water if you change your mind. There’s no numbing cream, or spray, or OTC pill that will dull the sensation, either, so don’t waste your money. But hey, when you’re all done, this will only heighten your sense of accomplishment.
  • Repeat steps 7 and 8 until you are happy with the results. Tweeze any stray hairs.
  • Remove wax residue. Use the AH-MAZING Azulene Oil to remove any excess wax. Not only does it remove the wax, Azulene is known for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. Along with exfoliation, regular use helps prevent ingrown hairs.

Now, for other areas, as I mentioned Parissa also has you covered for ALL your waxing needs. Like I mentioned in #4, they make a wax that is perfect for short hair. That means no more waiting for long re-growth. Yuck! I love this wax for my upper lip because even though you can’t see the hair I get light little whiskers. This wax allows you to get rid of your facial hair easily!

They also have a Precision Pen that is so perfect for brows! I can’t even begin to tell you how much of game changer this Precision Pen is. It makes waxing your brows easier than tweezing them. Seriously! It only takes a few minutes and I just know you will love the ease and results as much as I did and be a huge fan of this little handy-dandy pen!

A few tips when using this pen, use your hair-dryer to heat it for 60 seconds and keep it rolling between your fingers the entire time to evenly heat the wax. It also comes with pre-cut strips but you can cut them down smaller to customize them to your own facial needs. I will be doing a Facebook Live to talk about all things Precision Pen in 2-weeks. I hope you can join me so I can answer all of your questions.

Now that I KNOW you are ready to take a little at-home waxing into your own hands, hop on over to Parissa and check them out for all of your waxing needs! Even if you just start out with the Precision Pen I know you will love it and soon be going for the Ultimate Waxing Kit. Make sure you check out all of the fabulous waxing guides on the Parissa website AND another thing that is a must read is how they started! They are a company founded by a strong, independent woman, Azar Moayeri, who was the first female Chemical Engineer to graduate from the University of Edinburgh. She then formulated the first products for Parissa in her own kitchen while raising her two kiddos, 35 years later Parissa has grown to be an amazing company! We love supporting businesses run by other wives and mothers too!

And as a little treat, I put together some music to hopefully help you relax and set the mood for waxing and date night. {Wink}

  1. Need some clarification – in the teaser email it referred to this as a pain-free experience but your ‘Rip’ section definitely indicates otherwise…

    1. Leslie, good catch! You definitely need a firm “rip” to keep it from hurting and getting a clean removal. The Parissa wax is the most gentle wax i’ve ever used and unlike other waxes can be used over the same area repeatedly.
