Basket of “Healthy” Love

My cute hubby is what you would call a ‘health nut.’  He is all about eating healthy, no sweets, and making sure we have good nutrition for our kids.  Now, that is all fine and dandy, but I HAVE to laugh when he tells me that (and I quote) “We are eating so unhealthy.”   If he only knew what ‘unhealthy’ really could be (I have some really SWEET temptations that I would LOVE to give in to :-)) .  I know that some of my fellow Diva’s are LOVERS of sweets too (…AND they give in to those temptations!  Ha, ha!).  {WINK}!

Now, don’t get me wrong, I think being healthy is great and necessary – it’s just a little hard when I am 9 months pregnant and craving SUGAR!  Ha, Ha.  Anyone else been there?  That’s just one difficulty with being married to my husband and those cravings hit – I want ice cream and he says, “Is that really the best for our baby?”  He says it so lovingly that it’s hard to argue with him, but my MIND really wants it 🙂 .  Grrrr!

I wanted to do something cute and healthy for my hubby, so I decided to put together a healthy ‘sweet’ basket to let him know just how much I really appreciate his hard work for our family.  He is the best and I want him to know it  – “Joseph style”.

I came up with the idea to put together a fruit basket (his favorite) with some cute sayings attached to each fruit.  Ex: the bananas in my basket had this attached to it:

“I am just BANANAS for you!”

The fruit you will need for your ‘sweet’ basket are:

  • Grapes
  • Banana
  • Apple
  • Orange
  • Pear

Now I just happen to have a fruit bowl that I L-O-V-E!  However, if you don’t have a perfect bowl like me, I found a really cute basket that would be great!

Just download the cute printable, made by Cheryl and Sherie from Merrymint Designs.  They are SO amazingly talented and I am very grateful to them for designing these tags.  Cheryl and Sherie create fantastic designs on a BUDGET!  What more could you ask for?!  Merrymint Designs, here I come!  Oh yeah, baby!  Thanks again for these adorable tags!

Cut out each saying, and tie it to each fruit with a cute piece of string or ribbon, and wa-la – you have an adorable, healthy basket for your amazing spouse.  What’s even better, this is a quick, inexpensive gift that is just PERFECT for AFTER Christmas!  Yay!

    1. Oh Elizabeth-I am so glad that you like this idea. It’s sometimes hard to find healthy ways to let your spouse know you love them. I’m happy you appreciate this. Hope it works out for you!

  1. I love this idea! My husband sounds very similar to yours and I think he would love this. It’s always nice to feel appreciated, especially when it’s random. I am going to go get fruit to make him a fruit basket today. I’m excited and I think he will love it!

    1. Lyla- I am so glad that you have a healthy hubby too :). I don’t want to be the only wife out there with one. LOL I hope that the fruit basket turned out cute! Thanks for your comment!

  2. Perfect and darling printable to easily prepare a fun & healthy snack that says I love you. Win/Win/Win!

    THanks for sharing!

  3. My hubby is the exact same way. We will go out to eat and I will order a nice juicy steak and he will order a salad with no dressing. Weirdo. And I am totally in the same boat, pregnant and craving sugar like crazy! I chew bubble gum all the time. And he looks at me and asks so nicely why I am eating so much candy and sweets, but I can’t help it! This will be the perfect thing for him! 🙂

    1. @JOrdan- I am SO glad that you understand my predicament while being pregnant. It’s so hard to get mad at them when they drop these hints so NICELY! Grrr!!! I’m also glad that your hubby will appreciate this as much as mine did.

  4. Although my husband is not what you’d, or anyone for that matter;), would call a ‘health nut’, i know he’d love this! We recently moved to the Middle East and it has been an adventure (and less expensive) to eat out at all the wonderful resturaunts but of course we both have gained weight. We talked this morning about starting off the New Year eating better and working out together and this idea would be a perfect way to kick it off! Thank You!

    1. @Nonnie- well what a perfect time to give him a healthy, yet cute gift. Maybe one of your New Year’s resolutions could be that you eat more fresh fruit :). Good luck!
