We love to spend time together as a family, and with busy schedules and a busy life, we’ve found that writing a family date night on the calendar works best for our family. Each Monday night has been set aside for family FUN!!! We do different things every week, and we love to get outside and enjoy whatever the season has to offer. One of our most favorite summer activities is traveling to a nearby farm and picking whatever fruit is in season. Right now it’s blackberry season, and a couple of weeks ago we headed out to stock up on one of our very favorite berries!
On the way to the blackberry bushes, they have the a big slide and rope swing that just calls out to kids everywhere, and we always stop on the way out, and on the way back.
My boys especially loved the wagons, and they were in charge of pulling…
Then the picking began! The blackberries were HUGE…seriously 1-2 inches in height.
We picked and picked…
We also did some eating…
and a little sleeping.
Once we had our buckets full, we headed back to get them weighed. We piled the wagons with our berries, and with kids. ?
And the final weigh-in amount? 17 pounds of blackberry goodness.
We were already making plans for what we would make… jam, cobbler, muffins, and more!
And what goes best with blackberries? Ice cream, of course!
The fun didn’t stop there–when we got home we whipped a batch of freezer jam, something even the littles can help with.

We had SUCH a fun time, and we’re already planning our next trip! We love family night!!
Thank you so much for having me! Come on by, look around, and say hello…I would love to have you!

Those blackberry bushes are so cute! Where we live, blackberries grow wild all over but the vines are wild and out of control and you can’t help but get scratched up all over, even if you wear long pants/sleeves/gloves!
Kierste! How fun would this be?? Love it. Thanks for sharing…. and those printables are too cute for words! XO
