DIY Flirty Apron Tutorial
Being a busy wife and mom, I tend to spent a decent amount of my time in the kitchen.  Let’s be honest, when you’re in the kitchen – your first thought isn’t about your appearance, right?!?  You are focused on getting the meal prepped!!  Who knew that throwing on a SUPER cute apron would not only change the way you feel about yourself….BUT…it would be a “turn-on” to the hubby as well!?!   I have seen these types of cutesy aprons everywhere and I’d been dying to make one of my very own.  I made it extra flirty for my husband, too!  I’m SO excited to share with you a tutorial on how to make a “flirty” apron just in time for Thanksgiving.

    1. Christina, thank you so much for your kind words! So glad you enjoyed. 🙂 We hope you are able to put them to good use this Christmas. Wink! XO

  1. SUPER cute apron! I’m so excited that I came across your tutorial! I am planning on making several for my daughters for Christmas; however, I have somewhat of a silly question to ask! I am measuring out the pattern per the instructions, but am having trouble cutting the curved lines (armhole area and across the bottom). I just can’t draw a nice curved lined for those areas. Any ideas on how to do that? Or perhaps is ther an actual pattern that’s available for purchase? I would so be willing to buy it! I just want to get it right and not have it look all kitty-wampas! Thanks for your help in advance!

    1. Oops! Sorry about the double post! Couldn’t find original post and thought it just didn’t work the first time! Have a blessed day! =)

  2. Hello! I’ve just come across your super cute tutorial for the flirty apron! It’s the cutest I’ve found yet and want to get a head start on some Christmas presents for my girls, but I have a rather silly question for you. I’ve downloaded the pattern instructions; however, I’m stumped on how to measure out and cut the curved lines (i.e. arm pit area and then the curve across the bottom. I can’t seem to get it right at all. Would you happen to have an actual pattern to use as a guide rather than trying to “eyeball’ those curved cuts? Thanks in advance for any advice/help you can give!!

  3. I experienced similar printing problems. This is easily solved…If you save the tutorial to your desktop, you can print it from there… voila!
Thank you for this tutorial! This is a fabulous pattern. I am making several for my sisters and mother, to go along with a cookbook of family recipes that I made for each of them for Christmas.

  4. Outstanding tutorial, pictures – best one on searching pinterest ideas for an hour! Thank you… now I only wish I would have started this back in the summer… girls: daughters, nieces and only a month till Christmas! 😉

  5. I have the fabric and am ready to make this for my friend for Christmas but I can’t find the link to download the pattern. I have no problem with the directions but can’t find the pattern. I see others have said the same thing but didn’t see anything telling them what to do. Suggestions?

  6. I love the apron! I read the tutorial, but could not download the pattern :(.
Any chance you could send it to me via email? Would love to try to make this apron 🙂

  7. I made a Flirty Apron today for my Brother’s Girlfriend. Perfect Christmas gift!! Thank you so much for offering this tutorial. I’m a sewing novice so there were parts of this that were a little challenging (ruffle!) but it turned out really cute. I’m very proud of it. Thanks again!

  8. As you will tell from my question, I am a new at sewing. how much material will I need? I’m thinking 1 yard not quite enough

  9. Thanks so much for the great tutorial! I’m making 12 of these for christmas presents and I have been very pleased with how cute they have turned out. Easy pattern to follow, and they look like someone made them who actually knows how to sew (not me). 3 down and 9 more to go!

  10. Fantastic idea! I love this. I saw it 2 days ago…and today, I’m all ready to sew it up! I am going to use this in connection with the “COUPLES CAFE” you posted & possibly with the “HOT-N-READY” pizza post. :o] Except without the pizza in it…I’ll put in it, whatever I decide to make for dinner!

    I’m loving’ this so much!
    woot woot….here I go!

  11. Hi Kristen!

I’m a teenage beginning seamstress, and I would love to sew this apron for my mom for Christmas. Unfortunately, the PDF download is only displaying the first two pages of the tutorial. 🙁 I double checked to ensure that Adobe was up to date on my computer and everything looks fine. Is there any way that you could check the PDF to see what’s wrong or send the tutorial to me by email?

    Thank you so much!

  12. 🙁 I have tried to get to the pdf several times. It keeps telling me there’s not enough information for the images??? I don’t know what’s wrong. Can you look into it?

  13. Found this link on Pinterest….very cute! Thanks for the awesome tutorial, I’m going to try to make this!

  14. So, I just wanted to say you’re a genius! I’m so looking forward to making this apron that I hope my Little M sleeps for just a little bit longer! YAY!

    1. Sara- im so glad you like it. I searched forever online to find a pattern I liked and I couldn’t find one, so I just made this one up. Haha!

  15. Thank you so much for this! I haven’t been able to find an apron I love! I’m so excited to make this!

  16. Stupid question: I turned the pocket inside out and sewed two of the three sides. How do you sew the top piece before attaching the ruffle?

    1. Once you see the two sides then turn it right side out, insert the ruffle at the top of the pocket and sew the entire pocket close with the ruffle sticking out. Then see three sides of the pocket onto your apron and that will create its own pocket. Does that make sense?

  17. I love this i saw a picture on pinterrest. But i couldnt find it then today i was looking around on the web and BAM. Here it is.Thanks i plan on making one for my self and this is so cute to wear around the house with the hubby home!!

  18. This is so cute. I have been looking for an apron pattern to make for my sister who loves to cook. I was wondering if I should use regular cotton material or a canvas material. I can’t wait to go shopping for the fabric and start sewing:)

    1. Abby- I just used regular cotton fabrics from Joann’s, but I’m sure you could use any fabric. I have even seen aprons with waterproof material. Good luck! and have fun!

  19. just wanted to say this is what my daughters and nieces are getting for christmas, and it is all thanks to you. Very pretty apron , and I am sure will get many compliments…Deb

    1. Hey Jen! so glad you like it! The download is still working on my end. try clicking the link again. It should automatically start downloading.

  20. this is so simply adorable!!! I LOVE IT!!! I’ve been into sewing lately and love making aprons……gotta try this patttern!! Thank you for making a pdf file!!!

  22. Love it kristen! Can you believe that with all the cooking I do I don't own an apron. Yeppers. That's right. This cooking Divas does not own an apron! But now, I'm going to. I'm just going to dive into this project and make me a super cute one. Even though I can sew to save my life. 😉

  23. Super cute… I am downloading the tutorial now! I can't wait to make one, and the colors you used are adorable! Thank you so much for linking up to It's Stinkin' Craft Thursday.

  24. I'm so glad you gals love it! It really was an easy sewing project and VERY flattering for any body shape. I also have searched the internet trying to find a cute apron pattern and never found one, and that is how this creation came ab out! 🙂
@Marie, We would love to see your finished products, make sure to share with us when you are done. There are so many different color combination's you can do!

  25. Thanks for coming to A Crafty Soiree and sharing:) I love the black and yellow, such a eye catching apron with cute details!

PS: I also enjoyed the previous post! You gals look like you have so much fun together!

  26. It's wonderful! I especially like that it doesn't have gathers. I have so many aprons, mostly made by me, and some of them have gathered waistlines that make me look pudgier than I really am (which is pudgy enough). This design is very flattering!

  27. Very cute! How ironic that you would post this today after I spent hours looking at various apron patterns online last night. I like this one best though 🙂 Christmas gifts here we come!

  28. Love the pattern. I am going to make it for my niece who just started her own compnay, “Sugar Me Sweet Cupcakes”. I found cupcake fabric that will work wonderful! Thanks for sharing!!!

  29. Hi there I am so glad to have come upon your tutorial. I have started my project but am having problems with the ruffles, pinning them and then sewing them. I have folded my fabric about an inch over and over but not sure how to go about sewing it. I have started to sew it several time and it becomes about 8″ long???? that is not right… What am I doing wrong.???
