We had an incredible giveaway a while back by Nisha at Healthy Mom’s Kitchen and she shared a lot of her skinny-jean secrets with our readers. But today this super woman is going to share with us an easy and very cute way to decorate your home using love notes!!  And here she is…

Hi, I’m Nisha with Healthy Mom’s Kitchen and the My Healthy Transformation Program. Today I am going to show you a fun way to show your love for each other in the bedroom.

A little background on me…when we moved into our first house 4 ½ years ago, we immediately tackled painting and decorating the main floor – the two rooms most people would see, the living room and kitchen. We also decorated our then, only child’s bedroom. Our master bedroom was painted with the leftover kitchen paint (a creamy color) and the Master bath painted with the paint leftover from the living room. Luckily, the colors matched the comforter that I had from my single college years. The décor on the walls consisted of two paintings my grandma had given us. Thrifty and frugal – 1, Romance – 0!

Over 2 years of this very thrown together bedroom, I finally decided it was time to change the feel of the marriage command-center. 🙂

Around this same time is also when I became a reader of The Dating Divas and was inspired by their dedication to keeping marriage spiced up! Much of my Christmas budget that year was spent making over our Master bedroom and bathroom, with calming blue hues (BEHR Contemplation and Valley Hills) and new luxurious bedding. On our wall between the bathroom and closet doors, I decided to make a magnetic wall to hang some of the darling printables like the Divas create to leave “Love Notes” for my husband!

I painted a large square area with 4 coats of the magnetic primer and two coats of the blue over it. I added vinyl lettering, some cute magnets, and wallah – a marriage command center that would promote love and peace in our relationship and throughout our home. Often times now, when I want to show my appreciation to my husband, I’ll leave a note on the Love Notes wall! Receiving love letters isn’t exactly my husband’s primary Love Language, but it’s a Love Language I speak more naturally than say verbal communication. At the very least, it doesn’t hurt for me to thank him for something right when he does it and again a few weeks later in writing to let him know I’m still thinking about it! I’m not sure how much this wall means to him, but it certainly is a great reminder to me of all the things my husband does for me and how much he means to me!!

I have learned over the years, that in order for me to feel confident in my ability to LOVE, it’s important for me to speak my natural love language and to be sure I’m also going the extra mile by speaking his! Transforming our bedroom has made a huge different in the overall feel of our bedroom and the Love Notes wall was the icing on the cake!

While I do enjoy transforming the look of my home, one mural or paint job at a time, my real passion is in helping women transform their lives.  If you’re sick and tired of FAD Diets, that are really SAD Diets because they don’t get to the root of the problem, start your Free 4 Week Jumpstart today!  Just in time for your New Years motivation!!  Make this the year YOU create lasting change.

  1. I really relate to the idea of having a “love language”. I had never really thought about it in that way. I am really good at expressing my feelings in writing but absolutely horrible at trying to verbally express myself. I guess I had always thought that there was something wrong with me that I could just say how I felt, but now I can see it is just something that makes me, me. Thanks for this great post!

  2. This turned out SOOOOO cute! I think a frame would look FABULOUS! You can make the frame outta molding! I have seen beautiful frames created out of that. We have a gorgeous picture in our home that I made at a Girl’s Craft Night & the HUGE frame is molding that we painted black & staple-gunned together! Once we settle in our OWN home after all of this schooling…..I would LOVE to do this in our bedroom! 🙂

  3. Of course I should add a frame! I thought about creating a “frame” with vinyl lettering when I did it, but wasn’t sure how to pull it off with my limited resources (aka no cricut type machine). So, Miss Wendy, since you rock at home decor, what color would you paint the frame?

    1. Nisha, I forgot what your bed spread looks like. Browns, blacks or greys?? I would do one of those colors, I think it would look fabulous!!! Love the wall, thanks for sharing! You are awesome!
