Military Couple Wanted!

We are so excited to announce our very first Military Week happening THIS summer!

We are aware of the hardships our military couples go through and how “dating your spouse” isn’t always easy when your miles and miles apart.  So Military Week is going to be dedicated to our military couples, but will be filled with all sorts of ideas for any of you lovers out there who may be away from each other, whether it be for school, a job, a vacation, etc…  There is always time to date your spouse, no matter what your situation is!

In order to complete our Military Week we are searching out a military couple who during the months of April 2011 and May 2011 will be apart from each other… whether its having your spouse deployed, maybe he’s in Boot Camp, or just stationed away from you, we want to plan an AWESOME date night just for you!  Call it your very own personalized “date in a box”!

If this sounds like something that would be the perfect boost to help your long distance relationship or you know someone who would benefit from something like this, then email us your story in 500 words or less {Please do not go over the max of 500 words.} to  Please include in the email- your name, best contact info, whether or not you and your spouse are able to communicate over email, phone, etc., and if both you and your spouse have access to a DVD player, computer, etc… We want to give this to the most deserving couple as a small way to give back to those who serve our country.

  1. You must be away from your spouse during the months of April-May 2011
  2. You must be willing to complete date and “report back” to the dating divas, telling us how your date went, with a few pictures by June 1st, 2011. (All content given to is property of The Dating Divas and can be used at their discretion.)
  3. You must be able to ship a package to your deployed spouse at your expense.

Deadline for submissions: March 26, 2011

(Winner will be contacted via emailed by April 2, 2011.)

We can’t wait to hear from you and we are excited to have the opportunity to work one-on-one with a couple that is so dedicated to serving our country!

  1. THANK YOU! This means a lot to a military wife. Wish I could enter, but my sexy soldier will only be gone in April and then leave for 12 months in June. The ideas you post during your Military Week will come at a great time for us!

  2. Thank you SO much for doing this! I know whoever gets this will love it! I am a military wife and my husband is away on TDY right now, but he will be back in April, so I cannot enter. Good luck everyone!

  3. This is a great idea! Thanks so much! I am a new military wife and it is definitely hard to be away from my husband! He is in training right now and won’t be home for 6 months, but I am not allowed to send packages to him-only letters! So I won’t enter but I am looking forward to Military Week! 🙂

  4. This is a great idea. So many couples are doing the long distance thing with people not being able to find work in their regions, they’re branching out, and are often away from their spouses for weeks or months at a time. It can be difficult to remember why you need this person in your life when your surviving every day without them. I look forward to hearing the tips and suggestions. Thank you so much!

  5. Hey Ladies! Thank you for doing this 🙂 Thankfully, my soldier will be home during those dates but I will link to this opportunity on my blog to get the word out.

  6. I am excited for Military Week. Thank you for doing this. IT really means a lot to those of us who have husbands gone. I can’t enter because my husband leaves for his deployment in May but what a great idea and I look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve. You guys are the BEST. Thanks for looking out for us

  9. This is such a fabulous idea! Thank you so much. I am a soon-to-be military wife, and honestly… I’m terrified for my man’s deployment in early 2012. I’m looking forward to your ideas, and hope to find a bit more confidence in my ability to be a strong military wife for my amazing soldier. Thank you again!

  10. Awesome website and awesome idea for military spouse date night. As a spouse of nearly 27 years and still active duty, I can tell you that your ideas will be closely watched by many other spouses in the Middle GA area. Thanks!

  11. just had a friend leave her husband of less than one year and head to her first deployment. I’ve sent her the link, and hopefully she or her hubby enter to win.

  12. I am so happy that you guys are doing this…not only is my husband a soldier, but I’m a soldier as well and at the moment in time I am the one deployed and he will leave next year to go deploy also. Unfortunately I can’t enter this one either because I get to come home for my 2 week leave in May so I will get to see him. However if another opportunity comes up during the year I will def keep a look out for it! Thank you so much for doing this! It means a lot not only coming from a military wife but from a soldier also!

  13. Well I’ll join the platoon of these other military wives in thanking you for doing this! My husband will actually be gone for both April AND May for training, BUT I’ll still see him every weekend 🙂 I can’t wait to see what y’all have in store for military couples.
    Go Army!

  14. Thank you for doing this. We’re not a military family, but my husband of just one year (March 21st) has been gone since January 2nd, and we have only been able to afford two brief visits in that time. We will be apart until mid-June. Neither of us expected to spend a third of our first year, and almost a third of our second year apart. Looking forward to the tips and ideas.

  15. My husband has just returned this week from deployment. We had been apart since August. I have to tell you sitting beside him on the couch is a date right now!
I would like to nominate a wonderful friend. Her name is Dana and she is homeschool mom of five kids. She was moved to Japan and husband was deployed to Afghanistan before they got settled. She has such an awesome attitude and is a great encourager. Her husband was gone for only 2 weeks before the disaster hit. So glad she is safe but has endured a lot in the past month.

    1. Randy – go ahead & email that into Kristen (see her email above). That is so neat that you are thinking of her….and yes…it does sound like she has been through a lot lately!

  16. i love that you are doing this! i’m a soon to be army wife … we currently live on opposite ends of the country so dating and the engagement process has been interesting! haha i can’t wait to see what ideas you have!

  17. Divas,

I think it is wonderful that you are doing so much to try and help our soldiers and their families. My husband just returned from being gone for 3 months for drill sgt. school. During that time, I visited your site and many others to try and come up with some fun ideas. It is hard to keep the spark alive when you are so far apart. During our first 4 years of marriage, we were only together for about 8 months and that was not 8 months in a row! I wish that I could have had your sight for some long distance dating ideas back then. He did two years in Iraq with a short time between them. He even had to leave 3 weeks before I gave birth to our son for his second tour.
From a very proud Army wife, thanks again for your love and support of what we go through to keep our country safe and free. Hoo-Wah! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

  18. I can’t wait to find out who the lucky couple is!! This was such a great idea. I’ve let my fellow military wives know, so hopefully they entered as well. It’s so difficult being apart, especially with kids involved. My husband is currently deployed and our four children are missing him so much. They’ve been wearing his t-shirts to bed, with a spritz of his cologne so they feel closer to him. :o) Our anniversary is this Tuesday and it’s been really rough, with the communication being as poor as it is. With the 11.5 hour time difference and him working the night shift, then sleeping during the day…it’s been nearly impossible to connect. Thank you for having this incredible site that helps military wives and families with ideas to stay in touch and stay close, even when miles separate us!!

  19. Ugh, it’s too bad I didn’t see this post last week. I would have loved to have entered. My husband and I are always trying to figure out how to “date” while he’s been in Iraq. Unfortunately, he’ll almost be home by the time you have your Military Week. I wish we could have had this information a year ago! //;-)

  20. This is such a great idea! Wish I would have found your website sooner! My husband just left for his second deployment. It’s rough but I am very proud of him and all other service members. I am grateful that you are doing this for military couples. 🙂

    1. We just announced our winner in our newsletter…hopefully you are signed up for that. 🙂
We will be sharing the winning entry during our military week in July!

  21. Hi! I loved this idea when you first came up with it…and STILL love it. In fact, I love it so much, I’m sad I can’t find the follow up posts 🙁 Did you all ever do date night ideas for deployment? I’d love to have links if you did and I just missed them. Otherwise, could you clue me in on when to expect them? Pretty please?

    1. Hey Ashley! You are in luck. We are still doing military week it is airing the week of July 4th so look out for that. We have lots of creative ideas planned and great resources and giveaways. We can’t wait to give back to our military. 🙂

  22. I stumbled upon this site recently and just decided to type “long distance” in the search function to see what would come up. We utilize Skype, instant messaging and traditional mail on a daily basis, but I am looking for something different. My soldier left for Afghanistsn in January and will hopefully return by October. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas. I plan on sharing this site with other military wives/girlfriends!!

  23. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR DOING THIS! I am definitely going to enter! My husband is deploying in 14 days. We will be away from each other again for 1 year. The first deployment was the most difficult time period I have ever been through and in my letter I will share some of those details. We have just come out on the other side of that journey and are entering into this one. I am so proud of him and his courage and honor for our country. With that said, we can use all the encouragement and help we can get! I have been trying to come up with ideas and came across your site!
I am so excited for Military Week and for the timing of this couple you are looking for! We will go through our 19th Wedding Anniversary, a daughters high school graduation and of course just the day to day life without our hero! THANK YOU FOR THINKING OF US!
