Because of this, we wanted to find the best 1 player games for you. Browse our list for new single-player card games (okay, maybe just new to you)! We have also included some set-specific one-player card games for your more introverted moments.

13 One-Player Games You’ll Love

Card Games for One

When you have a moment to yourself, do you find your thumb mindlessly swiping and scrolling on your phone? Yep, us too. It’s not the best use of time, but maybe you need a break from that mountain of laundry threatening a landslide! Might we suggest a brain break with card games for one? It can be so nice to challenge our brains with 1 player games and remember that we are intelligent!

#1: Klondike – This is the most common type of solitaire — we usually just call it “solitaire”. If you need a reminder on how to play this classic one player game, click the link over to a video tutorial. It’s an easy-breezy game to play if you’re short on time! Players who like Klondike and need an extra challenge will enjoy spider solitaire, which uses over 104 cards that need to be sorted into 8 foundations.

#2: Canfield – Sometimes people refer to Klondike as Canfield, but this version of solitaire is really difficult — only 3% of games end with a win! Are you up to the challenge?!

#3: Accordion – The object of the game is to stack all the cards up into a single pile — and believe us, that’s easier said than done. This game’ll have you working your brain muscles!

#4: Devil’s Grip – Despite its name, this game is way more fun than scary! Using two decks of cards (aces removed), Devil’s Grip requires that you sequence your cards in with 2, 5, 8, Jack; 3, 6, 9, Queen; 4, 7, 10, King.

#5: Pyramid – Discard all 52 cards to demolish the pyramid set up. A different add-in to your list of 1 player games, and it’ll keep you busy for hours!

#6: Elevens – Teach your little ones how to play this solitaire game! It’s a simple game of addition — which cards equal 11? Learning AND fun? Yes, please!

#7: Forty Thieves – This solo card game is known by several names, like Big Forty and Napoleon at Saint Helena (to name two)! It’s a two-deck game that’s both challenging and fun — no wonder it’s a classic!

#8: Garbage or Trash – Traditionally played in a group, there are easy adjustments you can make to turn it into a one player card game. Trust us: this game turns “trash” into treasure!

#9: Clock Solitaire – Format your card like a clock with 12 pairs in a circle and a 13th in the center. This solo card game is fun AND pretty to look at!

#10: Streets and Alley – Make more informed decisions with this version of solitaire — and we don’t mean that figuratively! This game gives the player more information than typical Solitaire, which means you can make more educated gameplay decisions.
