Rockin Review: Power of Commitment

What does the word commitment mean to you? Hopefully it is more than just being faithful to your spouse. Commitment should be something that is constantly being worked on by both you and your spouse. If you have no idea what I am talking about, then this book is for you. The Power of Commitment is a book dedicated to letting the readers know and understand how to bring commitment to the next level no matter where you are in your relationship is.

This book is backed up by examples, statistics, and ideas on how to strengthen your relationship and really works for every type of marriage that you may have. It focuses on how to get to the happy place where you and your spouse can ultimately enjoy daily life together and not just co-exist.

The author explains that you both need to have the commitment of marriage, and work as a team so that you can count on each other in the future. The book is broken down into three important steps that will allow you to reach your greatest joy in marriage. It helps you to pinpoint where to start and how to improve your marriage. Isn’t that a wonderful concept for all of us!

1. Understanding the Importance of Commitment – This sections focuses on understanding the commitment that you entered into. Knowing that the vows said on your marriage day, are intended to mean forever, not just until you give up. By having commitment to another, you grow deeply attached to another, and you need to nurture that and make it grow even after you say “I do.” You need to stay in connection, allow for personal safety, and have safety in commitment.  These ideas are talked about during this first section of the book. Teaming in marriage is the best for a lasting commitment. This section has great ideas that allows you to see where you stand in your current relationship.

2. Battling the Myths That Undermine Commitment –  Society sets us up with many myths that make marriage seem harder to conquer. It fills our heads with concepts like: maybe the grass is greener, maybe it should be all about me, or maybe I can have it all. Nothing about these concepts talks about how important it is to understand how you need each other, and how the more you rely on one another  – the better your marriage will be. Knowing how to handle situations before they come up and understanding how good you really do have it, no matter what challenges you are facing is the key. Don’t fall into the traps and society and leave yourself open to thinking negatively about your relationship.

3. Building the Future with the Power of Commitment – This section focuses on how to build your relationship to make it stronger. You need to both have the same goals, and visions for what you want for the rest of your lives. There are many strategies on how to deepen your commitment levels to a way that you never imagined. It gets rid of all those ideas that are holding you back, discovers where you are struggling, and how to figure out where to go from here.

This book is a “must have” and I know that you will all grow and be surprised by what this book may bring to your relationship. Commitment really is the key to a successful marriage, and understanding how important it is to stay connected on many levels is essential to your happiness. Commitment entitles you and your spouse to understanding each other, and knowing the boundaries of where you both want to be in your life together.

  1. This is a great and inspiring giveaway! To me commitment is never giving up on the person you love. As a couple you need to understand that not everything is easy, but you can’t give up on the person you love when it gets hard.

  2. To me, true commitment is being fiercely loyal to my husband. Always being respectful, kind & quick to forgive. Loving not only for who he is today but also for who he can become. Accepting his faults and loving him unconditionally.

  3. True commitment is a lot of things rolled up into one… honesty, compassion, humor, love, trust and willingness to go above and beyond what is “expected” of you. Would love to have this book!!!

  4. I think that a person’s willingness to forgive and move forward is one of the most important factors in commitment. You must be fully committed to forgive and forget if you and your partner are ever going to feel truly happy, safe, and loved.

  5. What is commitment? Commitment is not the easy choice, and it’s not necessarily the popular choice. But it is a choice. Commitment is choosing to stick it out no matter what. Deciding that you will do what needs to be done and not stop until that goal is reached. It means forgiving or looking past faults, loving when you don’t feel love towards someone, and engaging your whole self when you don’t feel like you have anything left to give. It’s devotion to something or someone.

  6. Truly unconditionally loving someone. Always putting the other person and their needs first. Realizing that you may not have it all, but what you do have is pretty wonderful and worth the fight!

  7. This giveaway couldn’t have come at a better time for me and my husband! Commitment is where it’s at, and we are working working working to keep our marriage great! Can’t wait to read it!

  8. To me, True commitment is when you and your significant other are loyal to each other, yall respect each other and your wishes. Yall compromise and stand by each other through the good times and bad, especially the bad times, you should support each other and give each other shoulder to lean on and an ear for listening. Be each others’ best-friend and always take responsibility for your own actions, but never make each other pay for their mistakes, commitment is hard work and no one ever said it would be easy, but if you truly love each other and belong together, then you will ALWAYS find a way to make everything ok again. 🙂

  9. True commitment is remembering your hubby is your other side of your heart, with out him, your heart wouldn’t be whole. Cherish each other forever and live up to those values you made in marriage.

  10. Perfect timing for this book review! Our anniversary is tomorrow so I may just swing by the bookstore and get a copy. What a better anniversary present than one that we can both benefit from and can still be used after another 40 years together.

To me true commitment is when you love someone for they are; knowing their faults, flaws and shortcomings and choose to love them despite those things, and when you continue to choose to love them even when things get tough.

  11. Commitment is a special bond! Life and Love isnt always easy- being committed to your spouse is a vow you take with one another when you said “i do”- you are in it for the long haul- better or worse- sickness and in health- rich or poor- you are committed to one another for life!! … Now i wish my hubby was home so i could squeeze him tight and give him a kiss!!!

  12. I feel that commitment in marriage is being completely devoted to your spouse. You make promises to each other to always be there for one another. You give all of your love to that person and they do the same to you. You can work out the kinks. You don’t give up if the other makes a mistake. You do everything you can to stand a little taller yourself, but not for yourself. For your spouse. You want to be the best person you can be for them, and they do the same for you. You talk about things, little things, big things, everything. You make decisions together. I could go on and on. I love my husband and I am very grateful for his commitment in our marriage!
