PUMPKIN CARAMEL APPLE RECIPE

Hi There! Michelle here from A Little Tipsy. I’m super excited to visit and share a fun idea for a fall-themed treat perfect to surprise your sweetie or to make and enjoy together for date night!

Caramel Apple Recipe
Supplies:
  • Large granny smith apples
  • Kraft caramels
  • Wilton vanilla flavored orange candy melts
  • Grapefruit knife or sharp pointed knife
  • Clean sticks from the yard
  • Plastic freezer bag
  • Ribbon

Directions:

1. Give your apples a good wash.

2. Prepare a place for your stick by making a tiny square of slices with your knife  around the stem about ¾ of the way through the apple. Don’t pull out the square, the cuts just make it easier to put in the stick.

3. Wrap the bottom of the stick in a freezer bag so that none of it will actually touch the apple. {Not that you eat the core anyway} Place the stick over the stem and push down firmly to secure the stick, but not go all the way through.

4. Unwrap your caramels and place in a microwave safe bowl. Add 2 Tbsp water and microwave in one minute increments, stirring each time until smooth and runny. Tilt your bowl to the side and dip, rotating the apple to get an even coat. Let the caramel drip and once it slows down scrape the caramel from the bottom of the apple. Otherwise, you will have a puddle at the bottom.
5. Place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper sprayed with pam so they won’t stick. Place them in the fridge for 15 minutes to set the caramel.

6. Melt the candy melts according to package. I believe it was on 50 percent power for 30 seconds at a time stirring between. Dip the same way as the caramel and scrape if you want a round pumpkin. For the ridges pumpkin, place a spoonful of candy coating on the top of the apple and push down using your spoon. Continue all around the apple until covered. Place on a new sheet of Pam sprayed wax paper and place in the fridge to set.
7. Trim your freezer bag. Add a green ribbon on the stick.

I think both versions are delightful!

Add a little treat bag around the apple and they make a great little gift for the hubs!

You can even add a little fall themed note like one of these:

Hey “pumpkin” you’re the greatest!

You’re the “apple” of my eye!

You’re always so “sweet” to me!

I’m “fall”ing for you all over again.
