Road Trip Adventure in A Box

Summer is JUST around the corner…do you know what that means?! It’s time for new adventures!!! I remember growing up, some of the greatest adventures my family experienced were during our AMAZING road trips! I still laugh about some of the  moments we shared together in the car, including the time my sister’s gum fell in her eye while sleeping! We spent over an hour in the gas station restroom while my mom tried to scrub the bubblegum from her eyelashes! (Note to self—NEVER give kids gum while traveling!!!) Anyways, to this day, one of my favorite things to do with my husband is go on road trips! Not only are they relaxing, but they provide some great time to reconnect and be with loved ones! So, with summer fast approaching, we decided to come up with this AH-MAZING printable kit to entertain the whole family on your next car trip…

This Road Trip Adventure in a Box is SO quick and easy to put together and makes it a snap to keep kids (and spouses) busy and happy in the car!

Begin by prepping our QUICK AND EASY ROAD TRIP IN A BOX PRINTABLE TAGS. These fun designs include a space for you to write down WHEN to open your road trip surprises!!!  Simply print them off and adhere them to each road trip activity! I found these adorable polka dot boxes at Hobby Lobby, but you can get really similar ones here, or could just wrap your road trip surprises with simple paper!

You could even use a CD as one of your countdown items for your road trip! Your family/spouse will love opening their very own personal “Ultimate Road Trip Mix!”

Make A Family Road Trip CD Music Mix Prior to leaving on our vacations, my family would always make a road trip mix! Each member of my family would get to pick 2-3 songs to add to the CD, and we would listen to the entire mix while driving to our destination! If you are traveling with your family, create a fun CD mix/playlist before you leave! Have each family member pick a few songs to add to the list for your very own, “Ultimate Road Trip Mix”!

Make A Couples Road Trip CD Music Mix Take some time before you leave to create a fun CD mix/playlist with music you both love! Be sure to pick songs you can belt out together in the car, like “Life Is A Highway!”

  1. Courtney! I have been a huge fan of your work for years! Thanks for the printable. I am doing a post coming up about how to stay organized on a road trip with kids. Do you mind if I use the Car Bucks as a part of my post and link back to this post? Let me know. Thanks!

  2. Hello! I am a Professional Organizer and blogger and I am doing a post coming up on organizing Road Trip Supplies. Would you mind if I used some of these printables for my post? Of course, I would link back to this post for my readers to refer to. Let me know if that’s okay. Thanks!

    1. Hello Michelle!!
Yes, you can absolutely share the printables and link it back to our site! If you do, please let us know so we can go check out your post!! You can email us the link to Thanks so much for your comment!!

  3. Hi! I LOVE your printable! However we speak spanish and I would like to know if you have a spanish version or this or if there is a way to edit them.
We live in Bolivia and we are traveling to Brazil in a week so the maps would be different.

    Congratulations on your gorgeous printables!

    1. Hi Sofia! Oh wow, that is such a great question and one that I’m sure a lot of people could benefit from. Unfortunately, we do not have a spanish version for any of our printables, and the pdf’s are not editable. If you’d like, you can contact the designer directly {her website is linked up within the post} to see if she can make a custom version for you? Best of luck and we hope you have a fabulous trip!!

  4. I would love to purchase the full package here and it gives me an error when I click the link 🙁 These are all such great ideas!!! Is there any other way for me to access it?

  5. What a great idea! This is super cute!! My parents did a similar thing when my sister and I were younger and we would go on road trips. Getting a little something every hour or so really made the trip go by much faster and I am sure we were in much better moods at the end!

  6. I’ve always disliked road trips (being stuck in the car, on the road, for numerous hours), but I’ve decided that it would be cheaper for a family of four to travel if we took the car so I’m stretching my comfort zone in search of a family vacation. These ideas make me smile, but I want to know if these will work with a teenager or if you have any ideas for road trips with teens.

    1. LOL! Carolynne, you sound like me! Road trips are often much cheaper and definitely the way to go 😉 Okay so in my opinion, no mater what age you are, it is fun to have something to do in the car on a road trip! I don’t know too many people who like JUST sitting in the car! I don’t have any teenagers of my own, but I know growing up, my mom always did something similar to this idea! However, she always modified it to our ages and likes…let me tell ya, we LOVED it! You could definitely do the Trivia game but use our blank cards to create a version you know your kids will enjoy (include some questions about things they like including entertainment, music, sports, hobbies, etc.) The license plate bingo is also a great go-to game that everyone can enjoy (not too juvenile)! I think the idea of creating a music mix with your teenagers could also be a great idea (if you can stand their taste in music lol). Have each member in your family give a few suggestions of songs to add to the mix — that always lead to a lot of laughs during our road trips (we would always get a kick out of my dad’s old-time music). The Truth-or-Dare game could also be really fun! Again, you will have to modify a few of the truths/dares, but the great news is we provided some blank cards! Does that help? We hope you have a blast on your next road trip with your family!

  7. How perfect is THIS?! We are leaving on a looooong road trip this weekend! I was nervous for so many hours in the car with 4 little kiddos- but now I’m just excited. THANK YOU!!!!! 🙂
