Christmas is such a wonderful time of year and I love the generous spirit it puts into all of our hearts. My family has a lot of fun Christmas traditions we have done year after year and my husband brought his own traditions into our marriage as well. Combining our family traditions has been fun, but I wanted to have something that was unique to our new little family.
I wanted this new tradition to be something that could easily be done each year. I also wanted my children and husband to look forward to it every holiday season. It needed to be inexpensive and most importantly I wanted it to have a lasting effect in their minds of the importance of giving service.
This is a tall order and nothing I thought of seemed quite right. So I brainstormed with all the amazing Divas and together we came up with a really great idea. After adding in some more details (Thanks, Diva Becca!) and partnering up with Leah one of our amazing designers, we worked a little bit of magic and…voila!
The Dating Divas have a great new Christmas tradition! Introducing….
Santa’s Secret Service
It all begins with a fun letter that Santa has posted looking for more elves to join the very important Santa’s Secret Service. {Help Santa!?! Oh, ya count me in!!}
Every responsible elf who signs on to join Santa’s Secret Service is awarded with an awesome badge to wear when they are serving. Boys and girls alike will be excited to strut around with these snazzy badges. It may be worth covering these in contact paper or laminating them if you know they are going to get a lot of wear (which they will!) You can use magnets to attach them, pins, or you could even put them on string to go around your neck. Sunglasses are optional but you will look cooler and more sneaky if you pop a pair on.
Once your badges are ready to go, it is time to start serving. 🙂 Make sure you have printed up plenty of Santa’s Secret Service notes to leave at each site. We left blank space to add your own little message, but for non-writers just the note will work great alone.
You could brainstorm a list of ideas together as a family of service you can do for each other and post them up, or just let your family get into it all and spy out their own ways to serve. I’d suggest doing this for at least 5 days to give everyone plenty of opportunities to serve and be served.
Santa’s Secret Service elves can focus on family around your own home, or you can take it to the neighborhood, too! Spread a little holiday cheer by secretly shoveling your neighbor’s walk while you are out doing your own.
This is an easy way to serve your husband or wife. The less chores they have to do around the house, the more time they have to relax and snuggle up with you! It’s a win-win for sure:)
I know, I know… you just can’t wait to get started! It is your lucky day because we have hooked you up with ALL of Santa’s Secret Service Free Printables designed just for you by Leah. You are so welcome:) I am so excited to start this tradition this year with my family and I am sure you will be too!
Happy Holidays!
While I don’t have kids, my first thought was that if you have multiple children they can’t report on themselves but each other.
Ashley, that’s definitely a good idea! Thanks so much for that awesome suggestion! XO
Just found these and I am so excited to start using them this year. Going to laminate the deputy stars. Thanks!!
Christina, I’m so glad you like these and how well they are working for you:) Thanks for letting me know, have fun with it!
This is so cute! My son is 3 and what better time than NOW to continue teaching him about helping around the house? And if we can extend that into the community, even better!! 🙂 If I had had these at the library today, we could have left a note in the Lego area after cleaning up, or the puzzle area! Thank you so much!!
I love this idea! But I can’t download the stuff 🙁 I’m not sure why.
Hmm, the link is working from this end. Give it another try and let me know if it still doesn’t work and I can just email it directly to you:)
Ahhh! That was supposed to say font not don’t
Bonnie, I sent this on to the gal who did that and hopefully she got back to you:)
The font is called Sverige Script- you can download it for free here: https://www.dafont.com/sverige-script.font

Really cute idea. I was wondering if you could tell me what don’t you used for the word Christmas? I love it.
Absolutely love this idea! Definitely tucking it away for the future when our little one is older!
