I Would Still Pick You

Here is Makana from the blog, Texas is for Lovers, with a great berry picking date 😉

I once heard a marriage therapist say, “Does your spouse wonder why he proposed? Or are you re-thinking when you said I DO?” For some reason that statement has always stood out to me. I have often wondered if I am doing everything in my power to make our marriage the best it can be. After 5 years, 2 kids, 6 moves, 2 homes and countless, ” I Love You’s,” I think that my marriage is really the best. But I am a tad biased. And I know that for us, if I had to choose all over again, I really would pick my hubby.

I made this one day, gave it to my sweetheart, and we headed out to do some “picking” as a date. You can find where to pick your own fruit or veggies from here.

We picked 3 pounds of berries on that date! Since then, we have picked blackberries, apples and raspberries. Each time has been memorable.

After all of your hard work, don’t forget to leave time for fun…  and plenty of kisses!

  1. Hey, I was inspired by the quote “If I had to pick again, I’d still pick you” for another cool date idea. Print out some of your favorite pictures (of you, your significant other, you two as a couple, as a family). Make sure to print two of each photo in whichever size you prefer. Shuffle the photos, then place them face down in a square/rectangular pattern. Play the old “Memory Match” game, flipping over two photos at a time per person – per turn. When one of you finds a match, you keep the pair of photos. Whoever has the most matches at the end of the game, wins! =)

Then after you’ve completed that game you can play another simple one using the same photos:
Pick out your own personal top 5 favorites, as your spouse does the same. Don’t show each other your picks just yet! Out of your top favorites, give each photo a rank from 1-5. Place them on the floor face down in a pyramid pattern, with your favorite photo at the top, working down the ranks until the bottom of the pyramid. Then compare favorites with your hubby by turning over the photos at the same time (in whichever order your prefer…least to most favorite, favorite to least, or at random) until you’ve turned them all over. You might be surprised that your favorites are the same or completely different. Then you can have fun/romantic conversations about the reasons why you each chose the photos you did. It can be silly and lead to a lot of laughs, or surprisingly romantic.

Anyway, I’ll be doing this idea for my own boyfriend soon… but really it was the quote that inspired me, so I wanted to give thanks for the inspiration, and share my idea in an attempt to show my appreciation for all of the wonderful ideas you ladies share on a daily basis.

Thank you all for sharing the many ways you are able to show the men in your lives that you love them, and for teaching women that they don’t have to wait for romance, they can create it! I’ve always subscribed to that philosophy myself, and am so glad to have found a blog full of like-minded women.

Keep up the loving work, ladies.
