It is March and just two weeks until St. Patrick’s Day! Do you feel the Luck of the Irish? Well, let’s spread the luck to your spouse and give them a 4 Leaf Clover. This is the perfect and simple card to give your spouse for St. Patrick’s day.
Remember my Lucky in Love lotto cards? This is the same idea on one card. So gather your supplies:
- Lucky You Shamrock Card (there is my version and a blank version if you want to write in other things)
- Glittery cardstock
- Gold metallic paint
- Dishwashing soap
- Packing tape
- Adhesive
- Bakers twine & button (optional)
Download the card, cut it out, and put clear packing tape over the leaves. Mix 2 parts paint and 1 part dishwashing soap. Then paint very carefully over the 4 leaves.
Since the writing was white, it actually only took me one coat of the gold paint to cover it. Let it dry completely – mine took about an hour.
Adhere the card to some cardstock – I went for glittery gold to make it more festive!
Completely optional, but I wrapped some baker’s twine around the bottom and tied a button on as well. Just a little something extra if you want – and I wish I had a gold button, but of course I couldn’t find my stash when I was needing the gold one.
Don’t forget to give it with a lucky penny on St. Patrick’s Day! It would even be fun to give to your kids with breakfast choices or another activity to do that day. Perfect for just about anyone!
What a very cute idea! I can see so many uses for this, too — maybe this summer, I’ll create scratch off cards like lottery tickets, so my son can “win” our day trips.
Btw, if you haven’t already, I’d love if you’d come join my How To Tuesday link party, too.

This is adorable and very creative! I’m hosting my Homemaking Linkup Weekend and would love to have you join, if you haven’t already!

TOO cute! I really loved this idea, Erika! Great job!! xoxo
I’d love to do this!! Can you please explain the clear packing tape part? Do I cover the whole leaf or just the words?
Nkiruka you could do either! I covered the entire leaves so the paint would look the same painted over all of it. But I’m sure it would be fine to just tape over the words. Best of luck!
What a fun idea! We don’t normally go all out for St. Patrick’s day but I’m sure my husband will LOVE this! 🙂
LOVE THIS! Will for sure be doing it for the hubby!
Just wanted to thank you ladies. A whole bunch of girlfriends and I read your blog and are always planning great dates to surprise our guys. My friend showed up the other night with a bag full of goodies as a surprise for my hubby and I – (It was the red date– a red bag with all kinds of red things and a redbox movie). The last few times we’ve had plans emergencies ended up canceling them and she sweetly thought of us. Inspired by you divas, she dropped by with it. My husband and I had a great date after we put our littlies to bed. Just wanted to thank you!
Erika – this is so cute! I’m going to use the scratch-off idea for my kids, too. And I will admit I changed “full body massage” to back massage because I’m not THAT good of a wife 🙂
Erika! This is a super cute Idea!! I love it. how creative!
