The History of the Titanic Sinking
It was April of 1912 when the RMS Titanic, a luxury steamboat, left England for its final destination: New York. It was the ship’s maiden voyage with over 3,000 passengers and crew aboard.
Why & Where did the Titanic Sink?
The Titanic was called “unsinkable”. However, on April 15, 1912, the ship sideswiped a concealed iceberg. The damages were so extreme that the “unsinkable” ship sunk. Where did the Titanic sink? Unfortunately, into the cold waters just off of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic ocean. With not enough lifeboats for all of the passengers and crew, over 1,500 people died.
A titanic Date Night Based on the movie
The Titanic sinking has inspired novels and even a famous movie starring Kate Winslet & Leonardo DeCaprio. Tonight’s Titanic date lets you and your spouse recreate a particularly famous scene from one of the film’s most sexy scenes! This Titanic date concept was originally conceived by our talented Diva Heather. The idea is brilliant and we know you and your spouse are going to love it!
So, come aboard! It is time to embark on an unforgettable Titanic date night for two!
Titanic Date Night Invitation
To set the sailing mood, we created a unique invitation that looks like a traditional boarding pass. The printable invitation provides a place for you to write all of your “sailing” information such as your sailing date and port location.
The boarding pass fits perfectly in the printable invitation envelope which invites your spouse to “come aboard”. The Titanic image and boarding pass envelope really set the tone for the Titanic date night theme.
Make it a titanic themed party for two
You can really set the scene for your Titanic date, by dressing up in first-class attire. Consider adding some music from the 1912 time period, or having fancy finger foods. It could even be special to add Titanic photos as decor. Some of those Titanic photos could include the poster from the movie. A search for “Titanic Themed parties” will give you lots of inspiration!
Guessing Game Activity
Before diving into the main activity of the evening, you can test the waters with a fun guessing game. In the Titanic film, Jack is a talented artist as well as a romantic. For this game, we have ten famous quotes about love and art.
To play this guessing game, select one of the quote cards and do your best to cover up the answer in the bottom right corner. Together with your spouse try to guess what word goes in the blank. Then, check your answer. You might find that you create some interesting quotes of your own!
Recreate a scene from the Titanic
In the Titanic film, Jack and Rose meet and have an unlikely romance aboard the ship. Jack, an artist, draws his new love, Rose. She invites him to draw her wearing her blue diamond necklace–ONLY the necklace.
For the next portion of the date night, you get to invite your spouse to do the same. Provide a sketch pad and some simple drawing materials along with this printable gift tag with instructions.
To really be on theme, you can purchase your very own Heart of the Ocean necklace just like the one in the movie!
And now, it is full steam ahead! Recreate that drawing scene from Titanic in your own intimate way with your spouse.
Near, far, wherever you are this Titanic date night is sure to make waves in your marriage (in the best way possible!).
