With Valentine’s Day in just a few days, you may still be trying to figure out something to do for your “special someone.” Today we’re going to share a FABULOUS Valentine’s craft idea we came up with to let your spouse know how much you adore them. Valentine’s Day iscoming right up… are you ready?? Whatever fun surprise we came up with, we wanted to make sure it was an extremely memorable one, but also wouldn’t take me HOURS. So, of course, we had to come up with an amazing idea, right!?!

A couple years ago – we created a Christmas Countdown. This was our inspiration to throw a little twist on it and create a “How Do I Love Thee?” version for the big V-Day… using a muffin tin!! Voila!! Here is the final result…
This was SUPER easy to make – perfect if you are in a crunch trying to think up something fun to do for your man! It will be even easier for you since we have the FREE printables that you will need.
You will need to gather the following materials seen in the picture below: a mini-muffin tin (with 24 “slots”), a paper cutter and/or scissors, the FREE printables (you can grab them below or just save this fun idea to Pinterest to come back to later!), & fun ribbon.
You will also need to gather magnetic tape & some kind of scrapbooking adhesive. I like to use those dots they sell at scrapbooking stores.
Your first step is to cut everything out. I know, I know… you prob already knew that, huh?! I am a teacher by day & a crafty lady/expert flirt-with-my-man by night! What can I say?! I am used to being around FIFTH graders all day!
I measured holes that were about 5 1/2 inches apart. {Hint: I would use a ruler & mark two dots with a marker at the exact places you want the holes to be.}
Now, you will need to use a power drill to create the holes in which the ribbon is strung through! Yep, you heard me! Don’t worry, this will just make you feel that much more powerful!
String your ribbon through those holes & tie. You can then adhere the two “banners/sayings” to the top & bottom with the scrapbooking adhesive of your choice. {We love Zots!}
Finally, grab your magnetic tape & cut tiny pieces off the magnetic tape & apply it to the top & bottom of each of the cards.
Last but not least, write down 24 things (on little slips of paper) that you absolutely LOVE about your sweetie!!
Fold them up and put one inside each “cup”!
…and THAT is how you create a “How Do I Love Thee?” surprise!! I also thought this would be fun to do with your children as well. You could even use this as a “countdown” to V-Day, starting on January 22 (PIN this idea for next year) OR start on February 1st and have it go through most of February… next year, of course!
You could put treats, notes, compliments, or tiny gifts inside each cup! The options are endless! But THIS year, use it to surprise your man on Valentine’s Day! Who WOULDN’T want to read 24 compliments about themselves!?!
I am an outgoing and fun-lovin’ gal who was lucky enough to marry the man of my dreams! You could probably say I am an “extreme extrovert” as I LOVE to talk and be around people! I love ANYTHING creative and am not a fan of the “norm.” My favorite things in life are my family… especially my HOT husband, my friends, and my faith! We recently had a miracle baby boy after years of struggling with infertility. I have a passion for life and I am having a BLAST running this website with some of my closest friends. Life just keeps getting better and better!
I know that this is REALLY far after Valentines Day but my husband and I’s first anniversary is coming up in Sept so I’ve been looking for some gift ideas. Your idea will fit perfectly especially since our anniversary is on Sept 24th! Thanks for sharing!
Hmmmm…..I am a little confused, Anna. What exactly are you looking for? The link to this post? Go ahead & email me at tara@thedatingdivas.com and I will see if I can answer your question. 🙂
Oh My Goodness!! I so am doing this.. one for each of my kids (special treat for them for 24 days! or I can make it into \pick your chore for the day!!!\ lol Maybe I’ll turn it into pick your chore AFTER Valentine’s Day!! and I have a great idea for Hubby too!! 🙂
LOVE this idea! Instead of using a drill for the holes, if you have a Crop-a-dile punch, use that! Yep – that thing will cut through anything! (Believe me, I’ve tried it!)
Love this…I may make it this weekend and do it together…he has to fill the round days…I’ll fill the square days and then we can each have a turn feeling loved!! (is that selfish of me..lol)

This would be a great idea for an anniversary or birthday, too. Family members can fill out slips of paper for the birthday person on their month.
Ooh! Love this! I have some great ideas for notes to put inside this…
This has got to be one of the cutest things EVER! Tara I LOVE your countdown ideas!!!
