Why You’ll Love This Passport Printable Gift Idea

So one of the reasons we know you’ll ADORE these travel-love scrapbook ideas is because it’s the perfect gift idea if you are low on money but high on love. Also, it’s a fantastic option if you’ve been trying to get in the habit of having a regular date night. I came up with the printable passport gift idea when I was trying to think of an inexpensive, but meaningful gift for my husband.

I wished I could afford to just whisk him away for a relaxing, romantic getaway where we could travel the world together! So since he loves to travel and we’ve often talked about and dreamed of all of the places we want to go together someday this passport printable idea started brewing. Certainly, our bucket list of travel destinations is definitely long. However, with several little ones at home and student loans to pay this is definitely not the season of our life for becoming world travelers. So I came up with this Passport to Love gift idea instead! If you love scrapbook ideas that are unique and meaningful, this is the idea for you.

So the basic concept behind this DIY passport printable idea is that you’re going to be giving your honey a “Passport to Love” kit.  Most importantly, he’ll use this kit to go on a different date with you every month for the whole year. The idea is to ‘travel the world’ together, visiting a different destination each month. So you can choose to actually go out and visit different cities, sites, or attractions near you, OR you can do what I did and bring the different destinations to the comfort of your own home (No babysitter?  No problem!).

Your Printable Passport to Love Includes:

Keep reading for a more in-depth look at each of your Passport to Love items! You’ll be on your way to making your own DIY passport in no time! Certainly, with a little creativity, you can turn your living room or bedroom into another country and pretend like you’re going off on a spontaneous, whirlwind getaway. Love, love, love. The best part is you can keep the printables and display them in a fun way so you always remember your date nights. So use your best travel scrapbook ideas to create something you’ll treasure forever.

Passport to Love Card

  1. These are great- have you ever though of doing US travel dates? Like Vegas, New York New York, Grand Canyon, Great Lakes/Mackinac Island, etc? They also have walking tours on YouTube which is cool to accompany travel dates.

    1. That is such a GREAT idea! SO much fun, will pass this along to our creative team. Thanks for the comment 🙂

    1. Hi Camilla! If you scroll to the bottom of the post you should see the words “Click to Download Our” in white text on a pink box, right above the words “Passport to Love.” If you click on the white text, it will open up a new page with the printables. Hope that helps! And Merry Christmas!

  2. My partner and I stumbled over here from a different web address
and thought I might as well check things out. I like what I see so now i’m following you.

Look forward to looking into your web page again.

  3. When I originally commented I seem to have clicked on the
-Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I receive four emails with
the exact same comment. Is there an easy method you can remove me from that service?
    Thank you!

    1. Yes! If you want to stop receiving comment notification simply click the “Subscription Options” link at the bottom of the notification email. Hope that helps!

  4. I just purchased this amazing gift for our 9th anniversary. Do you offer any other months that we can switch out? Any downloadable months? Thanks!

  5. Hi I love this idea and would love to have this to reveal an upcoming trip to Washington DC for my mom and would it be possible to get one made especially for her. I am willing to pay for it. I would like to also incorporate a scavenger hunt.

  6. Such an awesome idea for travel lovers 🙂 could you pls tell me how to customise the some of the info i.e. add name, start the year from different month, etc.

    1. So glad you like it, Nagat. To customize it I just wrote on the printables, like the tickets and travel itinerary, with a pen to add the name, dates, etc. Also, you can start with the current month on the travel itinerary- you don’t have to start in January. You could add the year if you want to make it more clear.

  7. I LOVE the idea! My husband and I are going on a cruise next week for our 1st anniversary and this will be perfect to present to him! Just one question, I realize it’s printable but does it tell us what type of paper to use for like the card or the pockets? I’m kinda stumped on that part.

    1. So glad you love it, Jackie. I recommend using cardstock for the card and pockets. But you can use regular paper for most of it. Have SO much fun on your cruise! 🙂

  8. Thank you for this wonderful idea. I did this for my boyfriend for valentine’s day. I added my own spin to it. He has a list of places he wants to visit but he doesnt have his passport yet. So i taped money to the back of the plane tickets and throughout the passport booklet (enough for a passport) with pictures of different sights in different countries. I added the passport application inside the flight ticket holder. He truly loved it! Thanks again.

  9. This is so cute! I printed it all out and put it together in 2 hours! I can’t believe it was free too BONUS! Thank you for making it easy for us Mommies!

  10. Hi Becca,

I bought a couple of days ago…I think Sunday…the 12 months of international themed date nights. Is this getting mailed to me via postal or was it sent to my email address? Please advise. Could you also send the response to dhhtheresacopple@gmail.com

    Thanks!

    TLC

    1. Hi Theresa! This is a digital product so it should go straight to your email inbox after purchase. If you have any other questions- just email Ferren@thedatingdivas.com and she can help you! 🙂 Hope you enjoy your international themed dates!

    1. You can just write on them with a pen or marker like we did or if you are handy with photoshop or another editing program, you can do that too. (For personal use only.) Hope that helps!

  11. Well it’s a week later and my anni is here and nobody ever answered my question. So thanks a lot -_- I’ll use it anyways, in the way I assume it’s meant to be, but I think it’s really rude that after a whole week nobody ever responded to me. I mean I know it’s a free printout, I don’t have to pay a dime, and don’t get me wrong I’m appreciative of it. But I’m the type of person that won’t shop at even my favorite store if I think the people working there are rude.

    1. Hey Samantha! So sorry you didn’t see our reply. If you scroll up on the comments you’ll see that we answered your question the same day that you asked. Actually only 15 minutes later.

  12. I have a question about what scale these are supposed to be. I clicked the link and downloaded most of the pages from there, and this printed out pages that were half full. I was having trouble getting page 7 and 8 to print right so I downloaded them and printed them from my own pdf viewer, which scales them to take up the entire page.

Which scale is right? For example, should the two airline tickets take up half a page or a full page? I’m so confused, I think the smaller scale is right but I’m afraid it’s not and I printed all the begining pages wrong. Btw my anni is the 17th so please respond quickly if you can 🙂 thank you so much

    1. Hi Samantha! They were made so that the two airline tickets take up the full page. But really, you can just use whatever scale you think looks best. Happy Anniversary!!!

  13. The Passport to Love pack is PERFECT for what I needed. My anniversary is in a couple weeks and I’m surprising my husband with a trip. So glad I found this site.

    1. Oh yay- Happy Anniversary Marie! We’ll be posting some NEW Passport to Love dates next month too, so stayed tuned in case you need ideas for the rest of the year.

  14. Thank you so much for sharing this. It is my husband’s 40th birthday tomorrow and I really wanted to have something else meaningful to go along with his presents and this should be great. We keep saying that we should have a date night more often.
The only thing I needed to change was the front of the card, I covered up the word Baby as I have never called him that, and so it would have seemed less personal keeping it. I look forward to seeing if we can keep to it for a whole year! Thanks again.

    1. Oh yay!!! I hope he loves it! We’re actually in the process of creating 12 Passport to Love dates themed around 12 different countries- so stay tuned. That might help you keep it up for the whole year. 🙂

  15. THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!! This is such a sweet and thoughtful way to reveal a trip I have been planning for a while. Couldn’t have done in any other way. Thank you

    1. Oh you are so welcome, Johanna! 🙂 What a fun idea to use it to reveal a surprise trip. Hope you have a blast together!

  16. Hey there!
I find your ideas really interesting and I will use them to give my girlfriend a nice DIY birthday present.
But, well, I am from Spain and I couldn´t resist reading your ideas, and I believe you confuse spanish food, dances or movies with mexican or cuban ones! I don´t want to join together all latin american countries because they all have lots of unique cultures which distinguish one another, but just to clarify, in Spain we dance and sing flamenco, and even though we don´t all of us know how to do it, it is a really beautiful music to listen to.
We have many delicious meals like “tortilla de patata”, “salmorejo”, “gazpacho” or “paella”. Oh! And try “sangría” to drink during dinner, it’s really tasty.
And about the movies, you will know for sure Pedro Almodóvar, a really nice film director, but if you are looking for a mainstream big production which also has great quality, please don’t miss “Agora” from Alejandro Amenábar or “The impossible” from Juan Antonio Bayona.
I think it’s important to try and know about lot’s of countries and not join everyone in the same bag (that’s an expression we use in Spain!)
Thank you again for the ideas!
    Candela

  17. I love it so so much. My boyfriend likes to travel so this was the perfect present for him. We already had our first date which was a romantic french evening and it was great. So looking forward to suprise him with 11 other amazing dates 😀

  18. Thank you for this awesome gift! My husband loved the first date we had in “Sweden”! We had a winter date, fondue, and played two minutes in heaven.
Tomorrow we are off to China! I’ve been giving him fortune cookies leading up to the day, playing the wok tok game over Chinese food and sending him on Mission: Valentine. So excited!

  19. I meant to say in my previous comment that 2015 was our year of “travel” and I kept this Flickr photo album for each month/country of our journey. My sweetie still says it’s the best gift he’s ever received and he tells everyone about it! xo

    1. Oh my goodness- thank you SO much for sharing! I LOVE that you took pictures to document each month/country. Looks like you made some amazing memories! 🙂

  20. I love this AND you’ve saved my life! I just found out that my husband’s present wont be delivered in time for Xmas and I don’t have money to buy anything else. This is totally perfect and I got family and friends to contribute with babysitting pledges.

  21. We just bought a house so money is really tight this Christmas. Tanner said all he wants for the holiday is to have some fun dates with me throughout the year. This is PERFECT!!!! Can’t wait for him to unwrap it. 🙂

  22. I’m writing you from Italy just to tell you how brilliant you are! Amazing idea! Thank you for sharing and let our international dinner so perfect and easy to plan 🙂

  23. This is the gift I was looking for! Thanks so much!
I am pregnant and I suppose we won’t be able to travel during the next few months. The ultimate solution and I am so happy to find it.

  24. OH MY GOSH…. the Stamp BRAZIL on the “4. Passport Stamps” is with a map of AFRICA!!
Brazil is a country located in South America.
For a Brazilian reader , this is very annoying and disrespectful.

You should do some research before you go around touting WRONG content for your readers.
This is so wrong and offensive!

    1. That was totally a mistake. After we noticed the typo, the designer corrected it and we’ve uploaded the new, updated file.

  25. Very amazing ideas for a romantic rendezvous. I will opt for the Oktoberfest for two. His birthday is in October and will make just an addition – present the treat with augmented reality messaging from #MinuteofLife. Will use their site https://minuteoflife.com/ to add video and slideshows on every gift card and let him scan the qr code with his mobile device and look at the picture on the card to view my message and then find the next gift card. 🙂 It will be like a treasure hunt :).

  26. This was a GREAT idea, I did it for my boyfriend last month and he loved it! We are young and don’t have much money because we’re still studying, but one of our biggest dreams is to travel together when we have the money, so this was the perfect gift for him. Since I live in a spanish-speaking country, I had to alter the images to translate them to spanish, and they turned out great! I also changed the cover of the passport and used faux blue leather to give it a more convincing look, and used a gold sharpie to write the details.
Thank you very much for the ideas you post! You’ve helped me a lot! 😀

        1. Heyy! I also live in a Spanish speaking country. Could you send me the Spanish version you made?? It would be perfect 🙂

  27. I NEVER comment on sites, but I have to say: if this idea is yours, your not only the sweetest girl EVER but also a GENIUS. Best wishes

    xoxo

  28. Thanks for your comment, Reenie! I was born in Berlin- so fun to see we have readers there. 🙂

  29. I looooove this idea, it is exactly what I was looking for for by boyfriends birthday, he loves travelling so much!
Where did you get all the Ideas for the different countries from? Because I thought of adding some other countries my boyfriend loves, but I have not so many ideas as you got. I would be thankful for an answer 😉
Please stay as creative as you are!

    Greetings from germany 🙂

    1. Yay- so glad you’ll be able to use this idea. We actually just got the ideas for the different countries by brainstorming together. Usually if you can find a fun dinner and movie idea for a country that’s enough to plan a date around. Good luck and hope he loves it! 🙂

  30. voces sao demais! Estou amando tudo aqui! Sou do Brasil! Ja sou fã de voces!! Obrigada pelas dicas! Parabens!

  31. This is an absolutely terrific idea! I’ve been wracking my brain for an unusual gift and this fits it perfectly! You have a new fan and I cant wait to discover more ideas from your site. Thank you!

  32. Love this idea! Thank you so much for sharing it. I am going to give this to my boyfriend on our first anniversary and spend our second year together taking in ‘the world’.

    Thanks again

  33. I absolutely LOVE this website! Your ideas are amazing, out of the box, and totally fun! I love crafting up stuff myself to make it more personal, and these ideas are PERFECT! Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas and taking the time to do this! Thanks again so much for all you do!

  34. Hello !

I love this idea too . We love to travel but
Can’t right now so this is a fun alternative.
Dating divas are awesome. Love the many ideas
They are very creative. Thank you!!!

  35. Hi I love this idea of passport to love. My boyfriend and I are true travel lovers so as soon as I saw this I thought it was the perfect gift.

  36. What a fun and creative way to experience the world with someone else, even if you can’t go across the world! I love the ideas that come with this, including eating at a restaurant, taking a dance class or traveling somewhere locally. Fantastic ideas!

  37. Thanks for this awesome idea! Gave it to my hubs for our 9th wedding anniversary and this will be our 4th of 12 dates 🙂 We’ve been to Italy, China, and Ireland so far…next up, the Netherlands! Love your whole website!

    1. You are so welcome, Kendra! So glad that you and the hubs are loving it. Have fun in the Netherlands. 😉

  38. I LOVE this, but can not figure out where or how to download it. Any help would be great, I want to put this together…love love love

    1. Under the last picture, just click on the red text that says “CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PASSPORT TO LOVE PRINTABLE PACK” 🙂

  39. Hi, I really love this idea. I gonna make it for my husband 31st birthday. Thank you so much to bring me such an excellent idea. Thanks a lot.xxx

  40. Hi, I am from Mexico and I really loved this! It’s my 2nd anniversary with my boyfriend and we are really going to travel around the world this next year 🙂

  41. LOVE this, it prints out so beautifully and my partner was thrilled. So far we’ve only done one (Scotland- printed off a mini Scottish flag for the passport), which we did on Burns night, having traditional haggis, neeps and tatties, with whisky, listened to Scottish bands, had Scottish cheese and oatcakes in front of the fire, on a tartan rug and watched the Highlander. Lovely evening, and the first time we ever tried haggis. Which was really good!
This weekend we’ve combined a Japan date with our trip to London- doing origami on the train down, visiting the Kyoto garden in Holland Park, going to Japan Centre and the (cheap) Tokyo style diners nearby, visiting the Japan rooms at the British Museum and, because we’re jammy, watching Madame Butterfly at the Royal Albert Hall after being given free tickets. But, a really cheap date, for doing so much! Can’t wait to plan the rest.

    1. Caroline- thank you so much for sharing. What great ideas! I’m so glad that you two are enjoying it together. Happy “Travels!” 😉

  42. I love this so much !!! Was so happy to find this as it suits my present’s theme ! Im planning to give my boyfriend a cup that says ”Men like to look at a map” with little magnifying glass attached next to it , little love letter in a bottle and other lovely things. I love this idea too much. Thank you very much, it made my day haha x

  43. For a ‘Japanese date’, you could have sushi or make bento box meals at home, hold an origami crafting contest, and play through Shadow at the Water’s Edge (a Nancy Drew themed video game–lol, I am such a dork! or is that geek? ;))

  44. Thank you for the great idea! I gave this to my husband this morning and he loved it! Going to Italy today (Olive Garden and The Italian Job).

  45. Hi.. I´m so excited about this idea…
I don´t speak english but I´m learning, however I give this to my boyfriend for Christmas, I chose some different countries and plane very special dates in every one…
    I can´t wait to make it true…
I´m gonna send pictures about my experience… I am very grateful whit you..
    thank you so much…
this is the most original i´ve never seen before…

I hope you could understand my poor english…

    1. Brenda, I am so glad that you were able to use this for your boyfriend for Christmas!! We’d love to see some pictures of your experience. Thanks so much for your comment and have a very HAPPY New Year! 🙂

  46. This is ADORABLE!!! Thank you so much for sharing – I’ll definitely be surprising my darling with this fantastic idea!

  47. I love this idea. I was bummed because my husband and I can’t afford to get each other Christmas presents but this is a great idea!!! I’m so excited. We have a 3 year old and 5 month old so we don’t get out much but I would love to bring these to our home. One day we hope to travel the world but this will work for now.

    1. So glad you can use this Jackie! I’m right there with you- one day we will be world travelers. But for right now, I’m content that our little family is our whole world. 😉

  48. Great ideas here and all over your website. However, I feel like I have to say (in love and with respect) that Africa is not a country. There are many different cultures in the respective countries and regions of Africa to explore. I honestly can’t say I know enough about all of the different cultures of Africa (and even within countries there is diversity), but here are some ideas I had. I’m sure someone who is from or who has lived in a country in Africa has even better ones.

South Africa–watch a movie or documentary about the country (many have come out in the last few years, especially focusing on Nelson Mandela’s life a legacy; I saw the movie Faith Like Potatoes recently which was about a potato farmer in South Africa who became a pastor); if you are more literary read a book like the classic Cry, The Beloved Country together; learn phrases in Afrikaans or Zulu

Morocco–find and prepare Moroccan recipes or visit a Moroccan restaurant; visit an outdoor marketplace as I believe Morocco is known for its bazaars; watch Casablanca or see if there is a screening of the classic movie in your area; look at images of Moroccan architecture and design or make something together influenced by that style (i.e. arches, mosaic tiles, colorful, etc.)

Other ideas in general…look for other documentaries about events in various parts of Africa (such the documentary Invisible Children, very sad, but eye-opening about child soldiers in Sudan); read books about countries in Africa (fiction or nonfiction) and discuss them during your date; find a local museum that is running an exhibit on African art or art from a specific country in Africa; visit another cultural event such as a dance or music exhibition; read some blogs by missionaries in Africa or see if there are any groups doing mission work that could use volunteers. Africa is so vast, and there are so many possibilities!

  49. My husband and I have done a ton of travel dates, they are our favorite kind of dates and this will make them so much more fun and exciting!

  50. Thanks so much for this fabulous idea. I am so in love with this, I wish my husband gifts this to me. Lol! Thanks again. I am so gonna make this today itself. 🙂

    1. Miri, right under the last picture you’ll see red text in all caps that says “CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR PASSPORT TO LOVE PRINTABLE PACK” 🙂

          1. Hy Becca! I love ALL the things you do!!! really love it and I use them!
            thanks!!!

            Victoria

  51. Love this, am going to get it set up to give my husband for our anniversary, finances are tight, so we can’t travel as much as we’d like. Also one tip, I noticed that quite a few of the countries are similar to some of the mini menu’s that http://www.onceamonthmeals.com has made for their Passport to Eating mini menus, so there are lots of good at home meal ideas there plus much can be prepped ahead of time so you aren’t slaving away on date night!

  52. This is really lovely! I had no clue what to give my husband for our 2nd aniversary, and this was a blessing! I know he´ll love it! But I have found a mistake =\ On the Brazil stamp, the image is incorrect. It shows the Africa map, not Brazil´s. I know they are a bit similar, but since I´m from Brazil, I saw it right away.

    1. Just noticed this too … oops but still SOO SOO cute this is a great “paper” gift for our fist anniversary. Now if I can just execute it each month it will be a success 🙂

    2. Thanks for catching that! Our fabulous designer just sent an updated version with the Brazil stamp edited. So if you click on the link now you can snag it. 🙂

  53. You could also watch pictures in books from the library and watch a documantairy or movie clips online to see the highlights of the country. Sorry about possible mistakes in my post, I’m from the Netherlands.
Dutch night out: winter fall food: mash of potatoe, carrots and union (hutspot) with porc belly, what we call speklapjes.. Mash of potatoe and curly kale, tiny bits of porc belly through the mash (boerenkool stamppot) and served with smoked sausage (rookworst). Other meals, many Dutch people like a meal with boiled potatoes, a veg and a meat like porc chops. We make gravy from the cooking fat by just adding some water and then let it boil. Gravy over boiled potatoe and make a bit of a mash with your fork. We also like pancakes, we make them as large as crepes but thicker (2 cups flower, 4 cups of milk, 1 egg is the very basic recipe. Preferrably use dome a bit of rye and buckwheat too. Mix, pour a soup laddle full in a baking pan, swirl around a bit so whole pan is coveref and bake, turn and bake.
Things to see online: windmills, Amsterdam, our water defense systems (Neeltje Jans, afsluitdijk), museums (google Rijksmuseum Amsterdam for famous paintings), we have castles (I live near ‘kasteel de Haar’). Also nice Buren, Heusden, Valkenburg, Heusden, Marken, open air museum in Arnhem and Enkhuizen, Zaanse schans, Dutch nature google staatsbosbeheer Nederland.

  54. Hiii!
I was looking for inspiration to my anniversary and I found you site… I’M IN LOVEEEEEE!!!
Alson, I’m a design student from Brazil and I was wondering if you are designers too, because your work is SO AMAZING!
    I’ll totally follow you!
    Thank you for all ideas!

    Xoxoxoxox

    1. Hi Clarissa- I am sooooooooo glad that you like our site! We aren’t designers ourselves, but we have partnered up with some amazing designers that help us out! Good luck with school!

  55. I just presented this to my husband as an anniversary gift. He LOVES it! He said that it was special because I made it with my hands and he is so excited to see what we will do for these 12 dates! I thought he’d like this idea but I didn’t realize how much he would appreciate it and like it. Thanks Dating Divas!

    1. Jolene-

Isn’t it awesome when your hubby appreciates your hard work. I am so glad that enjoyed it so much! Have so much fun doing your 12 dates!

  56. I love this! I can’t wait to use it. I’m having a hard time finding a way to convert the file so that I can edit it. Any suggestions?

    1. Hi Machella! So glad you’re loving it. The files, unfortunately, aren’t editable but you could definitely add your own text in the blank spaces on photoshop. I just wrote my personalized info in using a pen- easy, peasy. Hope that helps! 🙂

  57. Hi,

This is amazing! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I’ve always loved giving creative gifts and I was absolutely stumped this year when I couldn’t figure out what to do!
But you’ve helped out a lot!! Thank you so much 😀

    Cheers
    Vruch x

  58. Oh, this is so perfect! My husband and I had planned for the past few years to travel to the Dominican Republic on a mission/ministry exposure tour. We first planned to travel November of last year (we would be in the D.R on our 9th wedding anniversary), but finances didn’t coincide with the timing. So, we changed our tour dates to this April. However, circumstances forced us to make an unexpected (but God-blessed) move from Michigan to Virginia. I’m holding back tears as I read this post, because although we still plan to travel in the future, this would be a fun and creative way to sneak in some travel planning amidst exploring other cultures and countries along the way. Thank you so much!

  59. Can’t believe I’ve found the perfect idea!!!! This is awesome!!!!! I really like your blog with all those great ideas, there are so many that I even don’t know where to start! I want to do them all at once! 😀

    1. Evelyn- I’m glad you love this idea. I too get so excited about all the ideas on our site and have a hard time deciding where to focus myself first :)! Have a great year of dates!

  60. Loved this idea! Except instead of stickers I took a picture of us on each date and put it in the passport. It gave him an extra souvenir/memory!

    1. Alyssa- what a great way of really documenting your memories by taking pictures of the dates! Perfect. Thanks for sharing!

  61. I am so excited about this!!! As a single parent finding affordable dating ideas is tough. I made two passports up. One for me and one for my boyfriend and left two blank pages where we put our stamps. On the two pages we will be able to leave comments or pictures from each little date we have. At the end of the year, we each give each other the others passport with the sweet notes in there to each other. My boyfriend loves this idea because he always has problems coming up with new ideas for dates. We can also make it cost friendly for either of us. We are taking turns planning the dates because you know, ya gotta keep it fair. Anyway, love love love this project!!!!

    1. Mjmom- wow! You totally scored with a boyfriend that is on board with trading off doing/planning these dates with you. What a catch he must be! Have a blast on all your dates this year!

  62. I am doing this for my husband for Christmas and I made menus for each country. I put a picture on each menu from the country and added entertainment, aka – music during dinner and a movie. I wanted him to know just what was on the menu because we are big foodies. Can’t wait to see what he thinks.

    1. Kara- what a perfect Christmas present. I am sure he was So surprised and delighted! You will have to let me know how your travels go :).

  63. This is amazing! A great thoughtful way of having fun, experiencing new things especially for those of us who are budget conscious. Thank you!

    1. Melissa-I too am budget conscious and I think this is perfect! You can have lots of fun, even when thinking of your pocketbook. Thanks for your comment.

  64. this is amazing!! putting it together for my husband right now. I love creative things like this and it is something exciting to look forward to every month! thank you so much, it’s so easy with all the templates! (especially the plane tickets!- so cute)

    1. Janine- I am happy you like all the templates. Aren’t they great? What a go getter you are to get started right away. Have an amazing adventure with your hubby!

  65. This is so awesome!! We love to travel and this is brilliant when the travel-blues kick in. Great ideas and love this website.

    1. Chanel- I am so glad that you enjoy this post. Sounds like you guys are full of adventure. What a perfect post to fill in the gaps between vacations. Have a great time traveling the world :).

  66. Thank you for sharing! I love this idea! My hubby and I have been married 7 years now with 2 1/2 yr old and 15 mo old. Last Christmas I gave him a gift bag for each month witha different prepaid date. Some where out and some where for in home. We both really enjoyed the Christmas present all year long, but I used all my date ideas haha. I am going to do this for this year! I want to do the date bags every Christmas from now on. Thanks for sharing!!!!

    1. Anna- wow! I can’t believe you already did a version of this last year. You must be super creative! It sounds like you are going to start an amazing tradition with giving your hubby a year of dates at Christmas time. How awesome! I know he will love it. Have a great year of dates in 2014!

  67. Found you via Pinterest and I absolutely LOVE this idea. I don’t typically leave comments on boards, but I simply had to give you kudos for your creativity and effort. I hope to try this in January. Thanks again for such a wonderful idea!!

    1. Lauren- I’m so glad that you ventured out and commented about this post and am even more glad that you like this idea! What a great gift to give in January to start the year off just right! Good luck with this and have a great time ‘traveling’ the world next year!

  68. Thank you so much for this! I know my husband and I will both love this. I think I’m going to add a little photo album when I give him his Passport to Love. Then we can take pictures while on our “travels” and remember how much fun we had. Thanks so much!

  69. Just finished getting this together. Going to give it to my husband for his birthday in October. 🙂 Thanks so much for all the work you ladies put into this site!

    1. Dawn- I am so impressed you have this ready so early for your hubby’s bday. I know it will work out great! Enjoy!

  70. Thank you so much for this great idea! My husband and I have been married 3 years and things got really bad at one point. Thankfully God changed both our hearts and completely restored our marriage. We need date nights to help with the stress of two little ones, work, and I’m a full time student so this is a great idea to keep our dating fun. My husband’s away on a trip for the next week so I have plenty of time to prepare everything as a surprise when he gets home 🙂 Thanks again!

    1. Katie- I am so glad that you found this idea and that it will work out with your hectic achedule. I’m also glad that you were able to get your marriage back on track. Congrats to that! Keep up the great dating!

  71. What a wonderful idea! I am going to get this ready for our eighth anniversary, which is coming up next week. We are lucky to be living in a very multi-cultural city, with lots of cultural festivals and events held all year, so this will be perfect!

For your Canadian readers, I found a template for a fake Canadian passport at the link below! 😉

    https://www.donnaward.net/PDF/Play_Passport_CA_small.pdf

    1. Katherine- oh, I am so excited for you on your 8th anniversary. This is a PERFECT idea! Thanks so much for sharing the link to the Canadian passport too. I am sure people will put it to good use… 🙂

  72. Thank you so much for this amazing idea!! I first saw the post about the My Big Fat Greek Wedding date and then that led me to the Passport to Love post. I printed off the passport, tickets and invite for the Greek date, plus the passport stamps. He loved the idea!! We watched MBFGW movie and ate Greek food from a local restaurant. It was a big hit with my special man! We’re both excited to choose another country to “travel to” next month! Your website has been such a blessing!

    1. Oh Emily- thanks so much for sharing. It sounds like your night was really a hit! Good luck with the rest of the dates. I am sure they will be great too!

  73. My husband and I just got married 3 weeks ago, and I’ve been wanting to do special date nights that would make our first year of marriage extra memorable (not that it wouldn’t be, anyways!). This is an absolutely AMAZING idea!!! I am getting it all ready now 🙂

    1. Hi Lydia- I hope this worked out for you. How fun would this be to do your whole first year of marriage?! Oh the memories you can create. Good luck!

    1. Melanie- what an awesome way to stretch out celebrating your anniversary. Who said celebrating should only be one night?! Ha!

          1. Thanks! I did do it. He is pretty excited about the next 11 “trips”! He even asked me to research a little about orphans/adoption info on each country as we are praying about international adoption once this pregnancy is done! However, “funny” story…. so the first night of this, we “traveled” to Africa. I had borrowed some jumbo sized stuff animals, had a tribal-looking blanket on the floor, etc., was cooking pretend African food, waiting for him to come home from work. I was even wearing this brightly colored, fringed swimsuit coverup that could kinda pass for African-wear when I hear a knock on the door, then the doorbell rings. At first I thought it was my husband who sometimes knocks when his hands are full. Sooooo glad I didn’t just throw open the door, because it was HIS parents!!! Awkward…. I ran to put a robe on and then opened the door and they came in to spend a few minutes with my daughter, and my mom-in-law was like, “oh, were you taking a shower?” Lol….um…no? After about 10 minutes, she realized the “zoo” in the living room was a date-setup and she started laughing, “Were you going to greet your husband in a creative way????” Lol…um…maybe? So they decided to leave. hahaha…this would only happen to me….

  74. I love this idea and want to share a site I found that can include my kids on our “trip” to India. Please keep posting any new ideas as you found them here. This idea can keep growing as new people found this site thanks again for all the wonderful ideas:)

    https://mypassporttoindia.org/trailer/

  75. When I saw this I fell in love instantly! My husband and I are always talking about traveling the world…I took this idea and ran with it making a mess as idea after idea added on. For pictures and a better and deeper explanation you could always stop by my blog: https://megananddax.blogspot.com/2013/02/valentines-day-passport-to-love.html . That will lead you directly to my adventure creating brochures for all the countries we are to visit and so much more! I LOVED learning about each country we are going to visit and I think all of this will make beautiful and treasured keepsakes.

    THANKYOU!

    I love your blog!

    1. Megan- WOW!!! We LOVE it! Such an awesome idea to add brochures! He’s going to treasure that forever. Thanks so much for sharing- we love seeing our ideas in action!

  76. My husband has 2 children, so when I married him, I knew that I would automatically have two kids. As a blended family, we really try to make sure we are all communicating well and having fun. This would be a great Family Date night idea! I think that I will make this a Christmas gift for all 4 of us this year!!! Thank you so much for sharing this great idea!!!

  77. I LOVE this idea! I planned it all out and printed everything up. Last night, my hubs and I “went” to England! We went to a pub (it was technically an Irish pub) and got some Fish and Chips and Guinness beer. Then, we went home, put the kiddos to bed and watched Notting Hill. Later, I read him my journal from when he really took me to London for our 10th Anniversary, 12 years ago! What a sweet night. We had so much fun playing travel together. He was super impressed with all the planning I did, and has been really snuggly and sweet since then. Next month, we are “going” to India! Thanks for all these fab ideas! You are making my marriage fun again!

    1. Oh Sarah- It sounds like your experience is EXACTLY what we hope people get out of our site! Your England travels sound like they were a blast! Good luck with India next month.

  78. Cortney- I am SO glad that you enjoyed this idea. I LOVED it too! What you did on your blog is adorable. Thanks for your comments and sharing the link back to us! Have fun dating your spouse around the world!

  79. Holy hannah Paula!!!! You have gone WAY above and beyond with this one. I am SO excited (and little jealous) of the fun you will be having for the next 2 years! Enjoy! I am so glad this idea got your creative juices flowing!

  80. Hi Cami:

I’m so stocked over this idea that I have over 2 years of dates planned already. We are lucky to live near a city that is culturally diverse and has a lot of festivals for the countries we will be travelling to without the expense of flying. Can’t wait to experience China in February for Chinese New Year, Marseille, France for a Borne Movie Marathon, New York City in May for the release of Ironman 3, Istanbul, Turkey in July for the Turkish Festival and Munich, Germany in September for Oktoberfest. I’ve also includes some of the places we will be travelling next year like Miami, FL for March Break, Ottawa, ON Canada for a Pow Wow, San Francisco, CA for vacation, Boston, MA for a weekend getaway and London, England for New Years Eve.

2014 we will fictitiously travel to Rio de Janeiro for Carnival in February, Dublin, Ireland in March for St. Patrick’s Day, Pretoria, South Africa to celebrate their Independence Day in April, Amsterdam, Netherlands for the Tulip Festival in May, Rome, Italy for the Italian Festival, Athens, Greece for Grekfest, and Jerusalem for Christmas just to name a few.

I found more places to turn into stickers at https://www.zazzle.com/ and really found Trip Advisor to be a great source to locate things to do. Since we live in Canada and I wasn’t able to find a passport that I liked with Canada on the front I scanned his passport and picture to make it seem real.

I will be giving it to my husband for Christmas this year. Can’t wait to experience the world with him!

    THANK YOU Dating Divas!

  81. I love this idea so much, my boyfriend and I have’t done our OE yet so this is perfect. I can’t wait for the first date. We are from New Zealand so I put the USA in the itinerary which I think will be a lot of fun. I thought African food would be too difficult so I used Switzerland – fondue, swiss chocolate, the sound of music ( I know it’s Austrian but they escape to Switzerland). Thanks again 🙂

    1. Shelly – I am so glad that you enjoyed this idea and I also LOVE that you put your own ‘twist’ to it. It’s great that you were able to add the USA to your list! Have fun traveling the world!!!!

  82. My husband and I were married this past October 19th. I gave him this the night of our wedding, so we could celebrate each month anniversary through the first year of our marriage. We ‘traveled’ to France last night, as we celebrated one month of marriage! I love this idea! And we got a great meal out of it 🙂 Thank you so much for the idea and the links to make this easy to put together.

    1. Courtnay-wow, what a cute gift to give your new hubby and I am SO glad that you followed through with it. It sounds like it was a complete success! Have fun in the future.

  83. I love this idea! I have already printed some of these out and plan on doing it with my husband next year, can’t wait!
I think it would be a fun way to start our second year together as a married couple. 🙂

    1. Jessica- I LOVE that you are so on top of it and already printed some of these! I think these ideas are a perfect way to celebrate year 2 together! Have fun!

  84. Hi,
I found your site a while back. My wife and I like it a lot. I used some of these ideas and a few of my own to make a card with lots of suprizes inside an envelope for her birthday. She loved it. We also want to plan the year of “trips” together. I have another idea to add that would be perfect for this I used for her card.

On this site below you can print money from all over the world except you upload you picture to put on it. So you can create special currency for your trip that only the two of you can use.

    https://www.festisite.com/money/
I recommend you save the pictures and print them out at a smaller size (50% to 75%) becaus they print rather large otherwise.

    1. Wow Peter! What a creative husband you are. You got one lucky wife to have you to plan such a cute idea for her. The money link is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!

  85. Thank you for such a fun and creative idea! Money is extremely tight right now and my husband’s birthday is in two weeks! We have said many times how much we want to travel, someday. This will be the perfect gift for him and quality/alone time for us after our 3 little kiddos go to bed!

    1. Liz – I am glad that you found such an inexpensive, yet AWESOME birthday gift with this date idea! I really hope he likes it.

  86. I am working on personalizing this for my boyfriend and I’s anniversary. I love traveling and this is such a cute idea! It’s so great that you can go out for these ideas or stay in and keep things low cost. I have some other country ideas too:
-Japan: eat sushi or even make sushi (maybe sake too), make origami, drink green tea, watch Memoirs of a Geisha, 7 Samurais, or even Godzilla.
-Mexico: make or go out for Mexican, drink Mexican beer or soda, buy a pinata, learn Spanish, watch Once Upon a Time in Mexico, learn the Mexican hat dance.
-Australia and New Zealand: drink Australian beer and wine (yellow tail!), try vegemite, go to an aquarium (in honor of the great barrier reef), and for movies/TV there’s Lord of the Rings, Flight of the Conchords, Crocodile Dundee

I’m also planning on using Netflix! They have a lot of foreign films/TV and documentaries, including my favorite travel show Anthony Bourdain which is on watch instantly.

    1. Megan – what lovely ideas! Sounds like your creatives juices are just flowing! Good luck and it sounds like so much fun!

  87. My boyfriend is more excited about this idea than me. I thought he was going to think it was corny and he said not just 12 but we gotta do 24 dates in a year I plan one a month and he plans one.

    1. Oh Megan- I think that is a GREAT idea! You are SO lucky that your boyfriend is on board with this because there are plenty that aren’t! Have fun planning the dates!!!!

  88. Found your website via Pinterest this week & must say I’m in love. My husband & I just had our third babe (first girl) in May & will celebrate our 8th anniversary on Sept.3. Just finding your site has made me realize that we have totally fallen away from making time for us. With 3 kiddos & a crazy 4pm-2:30am work schedule for hubby, we’re getting a big fat F in us time! Your site has AMAZING ideas for cheap, even stay home, dates leaving us NO excuses to not squeeze in SOMETHING. We usually skimp on “us” to save money… THIS idea is a PERFECT way to introduce “date night” into our schedules cleverly and without breaking the bank (& it’s flexible if we don’t always have a babysitter! Genius)!!! Guess what the hubby is getting for pour Anniversary!!! 😉

Thanks for reminding me to step back from bring mommy and start putting a little effort into my marriage!! Can’t wait to include more of your fantastic ideas!! <3

    1. Kristin- SO glad that you like the idea! Isn’t it great how versatile it allows you to be and LOVE that it’s also frugal! I totally understand how easy it is to forget about each other when you have kids around. I have 3 kids and am pregnant with my 4th – and I have already had ‘the talk’ with my hubby to gently remind me that he is just as important as the kids when the 4th comes around. I think I have the hardest time within the first couple of months after the baby is born because I get immersed with trying to figure out the new schedule. Enjoy reconnecting with your hubby. It’s lots of fun!

  89. I CAN.NOT. believe how adorable and inventive this date is!!! I am so thankful to you for sharing your idea(s) and all your hard work! I’m looking thru all your different countries…and I’m so ready to say “leavin’ on a jet plane; don’t know when I’ll be back again…” 😉

  90. This is way too kool thank you rebecca for comming up with it and thank you dating divas for sharing 🙂 so awesome printing and doing this right away 😀

  91. I recently found your guys’ website through pinterest, and I love it! You guys have the cutest ideas. I love this passport idea, and the country-themed dates. I think I’m going to attempt a Brazil-themed date on Saturday for my husband, so we’ll see how that goes! (My husband lived in Brazil for 2 years so I thought that would be fun!)

  92. I love this!!! I’m doing this idea! My husband just went to get a passport today for business. His job requires tons of travel! I can’t wait to call him n tell him he has TWO passports waiting at home for him!! 😉

    1. @Rachel- How funny that you read this on the exact day your hubby went to get his real passport! I’m sure he’ll like traveling with your passport much better than his own :)!

  93. made this for my husband’s birthday next week. it was super easy and it looks awesome. Thank you so much for the idea, and for the links.

  94. Great Idea!!
I live in Durban, South Africa and the city has a lot of influence of Middle East countries, India and China.
Tomorrow we going to Pakistan!!! sent him the ticket and created the passport 🙂
I found a Pakistani restaurant that i can wait to try.
Love this idea, well done Divas!!
You always have great, practical and romantic ideas.
    Love your site,

  95. I fell in LOVE with this idea! I gave it to my husband after a big salary increase and told him “now we can afford to travel the world together!” Our first date night around the world was to China! We ate Chinese food with chopsticks (something we had never tried eating with), painted the Chinese characters for “I love you” and framed them (now on our night stands), played Chinese Checkers (even though it had nothing to do with China), watched The Karate Kid (2010 version takes place in China), had a desert of rice krispie “sushi” (yes, sushi was popular in China before Japan), and my FAVORITE part was lighting a Chinese Flying Lantern and letting it go together as we kissed and made a wish. I bought our lantern off Amazon for like $6. What a magical evening! We are excited to head to the Caribbean this month to get us excited for our cruise in September! Thank you again for the amazing idea.

  96. What an amazing idea! I have a couple of weddings this summer and I think I just found my gift. No to mention making one for my own husband as well. Thanks a ton. 🙂

  97. Loved this idea! Gave it to my hubby for Father’s Day. Tonight…Caribbean Cruise with some food from Rumbi and the room turned into a room on a cruise ship complete with porthole window! Thanks for the great ideas and all of the links! I asked my hubby in advance if he could travel anywhere where would he go and added that in. I also added in where he served his mission and went through his scrapbook to get ideas.

  98. This is so creative – Thank you so much for sharing! I’m going to put this together for a Father’s Day gift and can’t wait to plan these fun dates! I actually bought my hubby a new lunch box for work that has a little zipper pouch on it that I can use to slip little notes into – my plan to slip reminder notes and hints for our dates 🙂

  99. what a great idea! Love it and can’t wait to try it – we are in England so might try a trip to the USA as well!!
    Thank you ever so much!

  100. Fun! We already did the Italy one with my “Bella Notte” date, but that would be a great lead in to the rest!

  101. I was really excited to see this as the winner, as my entry was entitled “Passport to Romance”, but then I realized it wasn’t mine. 🙁 But this was a really clever idea with many great date suggestions to go with it. Congratulations!

    1. @Peter- so sorry to hear that your fabulous idea wasn’t the winner :(. But glad to hear you think this is a great idea too! Thanks!

  102. REBECCA! This is absolutely darling! Love this idea! My husband talks about traveling the world… and we can do that now… with your idea! lol xoxo

  103. What a fun idea! I am putting this together TODAY as a gift for our 5th anniversary. I think my love is going to think this is the best… Fun dates to look forward to all year!

  104. I tried the website for the passport cover and it doesn’t work. I need to think of an alternative.

    1. @Sabrina- hmmmm, it worked on my end. Try googling passport covers and see what pops up. Sorry :(.

  105. absolutely am giddy over this idea. we are just hours from the Canadian border, so I’ll be adding Canada for a fun day trip. (one we can actually go to) even if its just for lunch 🙂
sooo excited to put this together and run with it.
thank you SO much for this winner of a date-or 12

  106. I LOVE this idea! So cute! I will definitely be putting this into practice…it also sparked another idea for me…thank you!

  107. Cute cute! I would add India — watch Bride and Prejudice (knockoff of Pride & Prejudice) …. have henna done before hand and get sexy with it (not just for feet and hands — surprise him with a tramp stamp for example) … if like us you’ve been some of these places break out the souveniers or taylor it to make it more authentic ….

    Love this idea …

    1. @Heidi K – totally agree. Love that you don’t have to spend tons of money and still are able to have a new experience!

  108. I Love this idea!! My husband and I love to travel but with 4 kids it’s very possible right now. I love the idwa of a theme each month, and I know we have restaurants in our area for many of these countries. It will help us get back to our goal of trying a new restaraunt each date! So excited!!
