Pumpkin decorating is a fun tradition that brings me back to my childhood! Where I grew up, we had a creative neighbor that organized a yearly pumpkin decorating party – complete with a contest and prizes! Every year we would bring a pumpkin to the party and have fun decorating in a unique way. At the end, there were winners and prizes!

Pumpkin Decorating Party Pumpkin

Since decorating the pumpkins is the focus of this party – this is where the majority of your party will happen. Here are some ideas you might want to consider for the pumpkin decorating time:

  • You may want to set a time limit on the pumpkin decorating so that everyone finishes at the same time.
  • It would be a nice idea to provide several pumpkin carving or painting tools and supplies for your guests to use. {We would recommend this and this for sure!} The invitations invite guests to bring additional materials they might need but you should provide the basics. You could also give them some ideas with these Pumpkin Decorating Ideas OR these Pumpkin Carving Patterns.
  • If you really want to go all out – you could provide food at the party (or ask your guests to bring food pot-luck style). Here are 50 Fun Halloween-Themed Foods you could make or check out this post with over 100 Delicious Pumpkin Recipes.
  • While guests are decorating away, you could use websites like Pandora or Spotify or iTunes radio to play some Halloween hits.
  • For decor ideas (and more!), check our Pinterest board that has hundreds of Halloween ideas.

Pumpkin Decorating Party Award Instructions

1. Fold 2 printed paper strips accordion style.

2. Glue the ends of each folded paper strip together to form a circle. *I recommend using a hot glue gun.

3. Press it flat and glue in the center.

4. Glue the specific award title into the center.

5. Finally, add some colorful ribbon to the back of the award.

  1. I just did this today for my adult children, their spouses and 4 granddaughters! In the afternoon we went to the pumpkin patch like we do every year (get pictures of the babies with the giant pumpkin, and each family and then we get the grandkids with grandma and pappy). Then we went to Grandma’s, had apple cider and monster cookies, then got to work on our masterpieces. Using your free printables made it so much easier on me and made this year’s trip to the pumpkin patch and the carving so much more enjoyable than in the past. I tweaked it a little for our purposes as we wanted to gear everything toward the kids and it they loved it! I will definitely be doing this again for them. Thank you for all you do for couples and families!

  2. I love these! So cute! And what a fun way to get to know your neighborhood. We’re moving in a couple of weeks and I am crossing my fingers it’s the kind of neighborhood that loves to get together like this! 🙂
